Today I took Sidney to an open house/grand opening for an indoor dog training facility called The Whole Dog.
They had vendors, guest speakers and activities.
We decided to compete in Simon Says; it started with "sit" and got harder from there. Finally it was down to Sidney and a standard poodle named Bear. THe last task was putting them in a "stay", walking across the room and then calling them, first dog to their person wins. Hehe, the poodle kept breaking the stay, four times, while Sid sat patiently. I guess Bear should have been dq'd but oh well. He also broke the stay early when finally called. And he had longer legs than Sid...so he won, but Sid got a great compliment from the trainer for doing so well. We got a runner-up prize.
Next we played musical chairs using hula hoops. The dog has to hold a sit fully inside the hoop. It got down to us...and Bear...again! Bear won, he was faster inside the lone remaining hoop. But Bear's mom gave us a high-five and a "good job".
There was also a dog "talent agent" there taking pics of dogs, so I had them take Sid's photo. They said he does great in front of the camera and takes direction well. Maybe he'll be the next Lassie!
All in all, a fun day full of compliments, fun, laughs and a goodie bag of cookies.
