Today it has been three weeks since Sidney had the Femoral Head Ostectomy surgery to ease the pain from hip dysplasia. He's been ok'd to start taking short walks and take water therapy sessions.

We are very lucky to have a hydrotherapy location about 10 minutes from home. It is called the Total Dog Canine Swim and Fitness Center. The owner and trainer, Natalie, is an RVT with 30 years experience. She was so good with SIdney, I can't tell you how happy I was with our session today. She spoke soothingly and praised him well when he would swim. Sidney is notoriously anti-water, so I was convinced he'd cry and fuss, but by the end he actually seemed to be liking it!

Sidney is using a swim vest that was sent to us by Marianne and Corgi. Thank you so much! I hope you can see that it fits him well and he looks great in it!

Hehe, he look sso happy being toweled off. Next session on Thursday!

Sidney looks so handsome in his doggie swim vest! The water therapy sounds like the ticket and no doubt Sidney will come out of this enjoying the water more! Geri, thank you for sharing how his progress is going - love the photographs!

Good for Sidney! My Corgi, Jake, had a month or more of water therapy back in May\June after his CCL surgery. He was apprehensive at first but loved the water. He loves to swim. I'm pretty glad he does. He watched his big sister, Sheba, our Black Shepherd swim in a pond once and ever since then, he's loved it.

Good luck with his recovery. It's a lot of work and a lot of stress to go through all of it but he will recover that much quicker.

All the best to you both! Jill & Jake

Fantastic Sidney!! I had to chuckle a little to myself looking at these pictures of you in the water. Your eyes are wide open just like Griffyn does when he swims!!

Geri, you must be so relieved to see him making great progress. How very lucky you are to have such a great facility close by!

Sidney, you're swimming like a champ! When this is all over, we'll have to call you "Hot Tub Sidney." Glad to hear your recovery is going well!

I so hope he's OK. I can tell you love him so much.
He might indeed get used to the water, even if he's been intimidated previously. A & G were initially afraid to get their toes wet, but now they'll ford a creek if they have to.

Good job, Sidney! Glad to hear you have such a wonderful facility so close to home. I'm not sure we have anything similar in this area.

Sounds like his recovery is going well.

Seanna hates the water too! She finally just got the "let's hurry and get this over with attitude" with her hydrotherapy...Sidney looks really great!! If he's like Seanna, he'll go and do the water just to get the treats..:-)

Wow, three weeks already!!! Although I bet it didnt feel like it went that fast to you and Sidney. Great Job!!! Glad to hear it went well and that he ended up liking swimming by the end of the session. Maybe he will end up loving to swim after all his therapy is done, that could be a bonus!!! Keep up the great work Sidney, love the trainers name...hehe. How awsome she also has a corgi. :)
