Yes, the 4 first tricks, not only make me feel accomplished but I feel like he's learning so fast and growing so fast! Not only has he doubled in size since we've gotten him, but Louie can now do 4 commands with ease.
Sit was the easiest, I just held a treat far behind his head until his butt went down. Lay Down took a little longer, held the treat on the ground until he laid down. Up was easy too, just held the treat above and in front of him and said up, it might not really be a trick, but I let it be :-)!
Then came time for shake. Now I should have remembered from my first corgi, Murphy, that a corgi has a harder time achieving shake because those short stubby legs make them a tad clumsy, so you have to wait until they're a little older and more sturdy. But it finally came today that he shook. I had gone over with it a few times before early in the week and gave up after I got bored with it. And today it finally happened, he held his adorable oversized puppy paw up and placed it in my hand when I said "SHAKE!" I wasn't expecting it so that made it even more exciting. So naturally I got him to repeat it a lot more throughout the day and I even took a picture of his success!!
There are many other tricks I would like to teach him, but each milestone you pass with a dog, and the earlier you can pass it, the more you know he'll get when he's older!
It was an exciting day in the life of Lou! * Learning shake and playing with his brother Toby
