I hope someone out there can cure my worries. We got a new corgi in February. He seemed very normal till now.
He is 8 months old and his weight is about 12 pound. We saw a corgi over the weekend the same age as Max and he was twice his size and weight. Do I have a mini Corgi? The breeder just keeps saying he is going to be small.

I was told by our breeder that KC was going to be small....at 17 months she weighs 24 pounds according to my house scale. Now her "little" brother (they share the same dad) Taz who was 9 months on 8/4/09 weighs in at 27 pounds on the house scale. His full sister, who lives with my brother and sister in law, Misty Jones on this site if you want to see pictures, is only like 19 pounds I think she said the other day. Their mom was pretty small but their dad wasn't exactly huge so it is interesting how different each puppy can be from the same litter. I think your puppy is adorable by the way. I like the smaller ones for travel and such.

We though Oliver was small but then he hit a "Growth Spurt" just like people do and now he's average size for a Corgi.

Is your puppy healthy and happy? If you're good on those two, then you're good to go!

My friend had a corgi whose adult size was 20 pounds. He was so small, everyone thought he was a puppy. Don't worry, he'll grow up. How much do you feed him?

I have a mini-esque corgi too. I adopted her from an animal shelter, so I think this one may have been a puppy mill baby and/or runt. She was listed as being 1yr old and was only 17 lbs. She's now at 19. I keep questioning whether she is full-corgi since she's a little bit taller and a lot LOT smaller than my other corgi who is around 30 lbs. She is literally twice her size. But, I know she's a pem because when I saw her run up to me at the shelter I knew she was *MY CORGI* with her little nub wiggling excitedly.

I dunno, I kinda like having a corgi I can carry easily. My friends call her Mini-Faye or Faye Jr. (my older dog's name is Faye).

We have a petite girl Gem, she is 10months old now and about 18-19 pounds, she was always on the smaller side, but boy has she got the agility and running thing down!!! We love our petite little girl!!! no mini corn dogs here!!!!

winnie has always been on the small size too. i've seen both of her parents and they were normal sized. i'm not sure when a corgi normally finishes growth spurts, but at 1 year, maybe up to 1yr 3mo , winnie was only 20 lbs. she's 1yr 9mo now and she just weighed in at 24 lbs. now max is definitely going to be smaller than normal at this rate, but i'm just saying i'd give him another 6 months before you start worrying.

I think this is a great string of comments. I have been thinking I was crazy but Twinkie is HUGE! She weighs 36lbs. at 14 months and is very active and on a well monitored diet. She comes from a good breeder and I just saw some of the her relatives and they were small in comparison. She seems not only taller and heavier but like, six inches longer! I guess there is a reason some dogs are "pet quality" and not "show quality". Being a fluff, she never had a chance. We all love them whatever their size!
