On June 1st my hubby and I found out some very exciting news...we found out we were expecting our first child! Our due date is February 9th 2010. Once I hit about the 2 month mark of pregnancy Chloe started being a lot more cuddly with me. She was a little bit before the pregnancy, but now she seeks me out and stays near me for much longer than she used to. She's a little bit more mature now (her 1st birthday was May 21st) so I can't really tell if she's being more of a snuggle puppy because I'm pregnant or if she's just mellowing out after being a puppy.

Have you ever noticed your dogs or other pets treat you differently when you were pregnant?

1st congrats! But, my sis-in-law was pregnant when we got our puppy corgi and my little pup was super rambunctious and would never cuddle with anyone because she was only still when we was sleeping. But, when she was watching my pup when we took a trip, she sent us a pic and Penelope was laying next to her with her head on her tummy. I had never seen that dog so relaxed since we got her. Of course now she is better, but at the time she did take on a protective role for my sil.

Wynn ...again would jump up on my pregnant daughter put his head on her belly and sit...probably after she was about 5 months...but this is the dog that loves and has to check out babies as they come in the house...he sticks his nose in their infant seat and also will watch you nurse...seems like he's just making sure your treating the baby ok...he's great with his pups too...I think he knows these things!

Before you ask, I watched WAY too much National Geographic and read too many animal books. Blame my parents!

If a dog can predict an on coming seizure, then a pregnancy would not be outrageous. I mean it is something that they would experience in their own lives... on a nerdy, scientific note:
When you breed mice, you are supposed to place the pregnant mouse with another mature female. As the first becomes really pregant, the other female will actually begin lactating in preparation for the litter. So animals definately have some interesting reactions to others pregnancies. I would not be suprised if your dog takes a protective, effectionate tone with your child.
