So it's winter in Australia, and in our part of the country very cold. I was at uni today so my Mum was looking after Potus.
Now everyday we put on the heater to warm the house. My mother seems to feel the cold more than I and so puts the heater on a higher temperature. It's an old heater from the 70's and is fixed into the house. It's run on gas and has some sort of plates that heat up to orange. There's a metal grate in front of it so you can't actually touch the heated elements yet needless to say, if you sit in front of it you can get very hot.
Potus sits in front of this heater everyday and is fine. We check to make sure he's not getting too hot and if he is we push him away. However today with the heater on a higher setting Potus got hot a little too quickly and ended up singeing part of his fur!
My mum called me to tell me while I was at uni. Potus was fine- Mum had rung the vet and they said he'll be fine. It was only the tips of his outer layer of fur- his skin itself wasn't burnt. She's put in him the bath and wet him down just in case. He seems to be fine. Carried on playing and chasing us all day. All he has to show for it is a small slightly darker patch of fur, but I was scratching him before and the singed tips of his fur are coming off, soon he'll be completely back to normal. You can trust that we won't be letting him sit so close anymore!
(If anyone's interested I did take photos of his little singed patch- I'll put them on my page soon)
