Ace is active like normal, Eats ice cubes and treats but just doesnt want his food.. we have had this food for over a month now and suddenly he just refuses to eat... he only eats when i coax him to... Im starting to worry.... Our older Dog buffy did that at one point but that was when the food was stale... but i just bought this bag last month it cant be stale could it? i mean he eats it but seems kind of put down by whats in his bowl.. he gets all excited then looks at it like "aww again?" and its making me fret >: i feel like a worry wart... But i hear Corgis act like they are starving at all costs and usually Ace does to but.... Could it be the sudden weather change? Should i add something to it to make it more tasty? I dont know what to do.. could the amount of Ice cubes i been giving him make it so he isnt as hungry as usual? I dont give him people food so i know he isnt sneaking snacks between meals.. He's eating right now because all the other dogs are done eating and they didnt leave him anything to sneak... but usually he has his food inhaled before they are even done and hes not even wanting it unless its his last resort and thats not like him ... I think im just being worrysome

Mina did that awhile ago. We were giving her plain dry kibble, so i mixed in like a fourth of a can of wet food. She loves it!, I think it gives it flavor because the higher quality dry food isn't coverd in salty fake flavors. I started to use less and less each time and now she eats the dry food plain. I still use the trick once and a while when she is being stuborn though. Good luck with Ace!

Cody goes through phases and often its a simple change in food that does the trick. Add a little something like goats milk, or the gravy they make for dogs. If he refuses everything then I think he should see a vet.

Callie goes the phases where she just doesn't want to eat much, if at all. Usually she does it when there is a change (like when we go to visit my parents, or when it starts getting hot out) If she decides she doesn't want to eat then I just pick up the bowl and offer it again the next food time. If she skips 2 meals then I try and get her to eat, which usually isn't a problem because after missing 2 meals she is really hungry. I just kind of figure she just isn't hungry to eat and leave it at that. The only time I worry is if she starts acting sick or doing things out of her normal behavior.

There are several things that could be the culprit. If he is getting too much food he may just not be all that hungry. I don't know how much you're feeding him or what kind of food you're feeding so I can't say with absolute certainty, but typically I would expect 1-1.5 cups a day to be enough for a Corgi Ace's age. Some dogs are good at self-regulating and will skip meals here and there if they're being fed too much.

He may also just be acting stubborn. A lot of pups go through that phase. Every one of mine has. They will hold out hoping you add something tasty to their food. Don't do it. That is the fastest way to create a picky dog. Pick up his food after 30 minutes and offer it again at the next feeding. He will quickly learn that if he wants to eat, he'll have to eat what's offered when it's offered.

If Ace is acting okay other than the not eating, don't worry about it. If he starts to act lethargic or have loose stools or vomiting, I would call the vet.

Whoa! Rocky started doing the same thing 4 days ago. He usually gets 1/2 cup/twice a day and now, one serving sits there and he MAYBE nibbles it (unless I trick him into eating it by playing "find it" or something).

I am not worried yet... I have vague memories of him doing this at the beginning of last summer, when it first got hot. And he has done something similiar a few times, he usually gets over it and starts eating again.

So I guess, I wouldn't worry yet... and I would be careful to not change your behaviour around eating time too much, because he might learn that it is affecting you.. as long as he is getting some food and water in his system and hie is still active - maybe give it time and wait and see.

(If you are feeling really worried, a trip to the vet could rule out anything else though, which might be a relief - and maybe you just have a wonderfully stubborn little corgi) :)

Frosty has been doing the same thing. He went from eating 3-4 cups a day to not even finishing one cup. We didn't change anything and I didn't give him any extra attention. I just acted like everything was normal and he didn't get new food until he finished what was in his bowl. After about a week, he went back to eating like normal. Sometimes he skips a meal or two, but has been acting just fine.

Charm inhaled his food when he was younger. As he got older, he would rather spend time with my wife. If she's not there while they're eating, he comes and finds her, or comes and sits with me if she's not home. He'll go back and eat when the others are done, or, if my wife comes home and sits in the kitchen, he'll eat. Believe it or not, this is not the strangest thing about "chow time" at our house, lol.

It could be the change in the weather. Is he "fixed"? Spring IS in the air, and all that. If he still eats, I'd just keep an eye on him and see if he comes around.
