I begin my efforts to get a second Corgi back about this time last year. Life events and nature conspired against me and I'd about given up, telling Gromit he would just have to wait for another playmate until maybe the Fall or Spring.
There was an opportunity to get a female Pembroke pup back at the first of April but at the last minute that didn't work out.
But then a few weeks later the breeder called me and said the little female was available to me. Oh happy day! Gromit and I piled in the car yesterday and drove up to Clarkdale, AZ to visit Maria Brady and her husband who breed and show Corgis as Bramanor Corgis.
Long story short: "Bramanor Black Diamond," now called "Sparkle," came home with Gromit and me.
Sparkle's sire is Ch Rosewood Brigantine and the dam is Ch Craigycor Strike A Pose.
And just to keep it all in the family, Sparkle's grandpa is Gromit's dad, Ch Twinan Another Chance for Solvenik, ROM. Gromit and Sparkle share the same great-grandpa, Ch Sandyshire's the Phantom, ROMX, who is the sire of my first two Corgis, Watson & Tinsel. So it's worked out that all the Corgis I've owned/own are related. Since I don't show or breed that doesn't mean much except that I think it's fun; I like the consistency of it..
The Two Musketeers have their Third Musketeer now.
Sparkle is 15 weeks old and a real love bug. She crawls readily into my lap to snuggle which makes Gromit a little jealous and then he crawls into my lap and it gets a little crowded but only in the best way.
Gromit and Sparkle actually played together last night after a little coaxing by me and a squeaky tug toy. I could see all of a sudden it clicked with Gromit, that this new pup could PLAY and when Sparkle caught on they went tearing around the living room in fine Corgi fashion. It was huge fun to see Gromit acting like his old self again racing around and with Sparkle trying to keep up.
More pictures to come, you can count on it!

Thanks for the comments, gang. Sparkle and Gromit are having a fine time together. Gromit is very patient with her and she's learning how to play by the doggie rules.
Fantastic photos, Doug, of two super family members. So glad that they are running and playing together already. Can't wait for more pics as they both really bond. i'm sure Gromit will be acting way more like a puppy again, too.
Oh my Gosh, Doug! I want one!! Sparkle reminds me of baby Gracie. So adorable! You must be in Corgi heaven. :)
Oh! So beautiful! Congrats!
How did I miss this? Congratulations, she's adorable. And I love the way the registered name and call names work together. Maddie is closely related to Jack's mother, Roxy. Roxy and Maddie have the same sire, and Roxy and Maddie's dams are littermates, so we tell everyone that Maddie is Jack's aunt. I think it's nice when they are related too.
Good luck, and keep posting lots of pictures.
Hi Doug, I just logged on to your site this morning and saw Sparkle. If you don't remember me, I'm the one who is always wanting to hug Gromit at the Phoenix picnics. I just recently joined mycorgi.com and I look at your site often, even at work! I'm the who fell out of my chair trying to play with Gromit at the fall WagsNWiggles picnic! Sparkle is soooo sweet! I can hardly wait to see the two of the "in the fur" live together! She will be a such a sweet, playful playmate for Gromit. Congrats on finally finding your second corgi! She is so precious! I just love corgis so much, I can feel their beautiful fur as I write this post. Oh beautiful Sparkle and Gromit! You are so blessed!
Nothing like a puppy around to keep you young. Congrats on your new sister, Gromit!
Congratulations! They're both beautiful!
She is GORGEOUS!
