Today Sidney is having his FHO surgery to relieve the pain from his luxated hip joint caused by hip dysplasia. It was a tearful goodbye this morning, but I know he is in excellent hands. They will call me later this afternoon, and I should be able to bring him home tomorrow.

Thank you all for your messages of encouragement, well wishes and prayers. It really means a lot to me :)

***UPDATE***

Just got a call from the vet. Sidney is already done and is starting to wake up. He said the procedure went well. He also said the hip was in really bad shape and Sidney will be able to move much more comfortably once he heals.

***UPDATE 2***

My husband talked to the overnight vet tech. She kept calling Sidney "too cute" and said he may have glitter on his nose because she'd be giving him extra love during her break. Sidney continues to work his magic, even when incapacitated :)

Aw. Gotta love the corgis! Hope your doggie is doing well. I'm always concerned that my little guy will have to go through that one day...

We have been thinking about Sidney and you all day yesterday. Here is a message from our Corgi who had the same surgery on May 12, 2009 on both sides.

Hi Sidney, hang tough young friend. It was no fun at first but between the vet and my parents I came through just fine. I had to work very hard to get where I am now. I am sending you a photo and as you can see, the scars are still there even after all this time. You know what got me through it most? LOVE!!! I am being loved.

It's always nice when someone gives our beloved corgis extra love when we can't be there! he might be spoiled before you bring him home!!!!! Have a wonderful day....I know it may be a little "trying" to see Sid like this but I am so happy for you both things will be getting better soon! Keep us updated!
