We are so proud of our little Sidney! He passed his Therapy dog test after 6 weeks of classes.
Now he just has to complete 10 hours of supervised visits and he will become a fully certified therapy dog!
Since my daughter is Sidney's handler, she will probably start with the visits after she graduates in June.

Here is Sidney in his official "Therapy dog in training" bandana:

Waiting to be called to receive his graduation certificate:

And, getting his certificate!:

My Nani is also a therapy dog. We visit one of the local rehab hospitals once weekly. The patients as well as nurses and staff love seeing her strut down the hallways. She puts her paws on the side of a wheelchair for those wheelchair-bound and happily lays down with those who are still in bed. It's a great way to volunteer.

Our local Love on a Leash program has a variety of visits you can choose from. One that Sidney can do after his 10 hours supervised visits is the "Paws to Read" program. He'd go to the library and kids would read books to him! Sid loves kids, so this might be a good task for him. Also, the dogs that do visit senior or convalescent homes are encouraged to do tricks for the residents.

Wow neat! Way to go, Sidney! We were checking out Delta Dog certification (similar, working with hospitalized/elderly/disabled people), but we keep missing the class sessions owing to schedule conflicts. Bertie would be great, unless they have that skill where you walk by tasty stuff on the ground without paying attention to it (like in Canine Good Citizen class). We have a little trouble walking by tasty stuff..... Will look for the Love on a Leash and see if they are nearby.
