Samantha is having trouble finding a heartworm medication that sets well with her. We have tried Interceptor, Revolution now I have a prescription from our vet for Heartgard. The trouble Sami has is with the first one 2 to 3 days after taking it she is tired doesn't want to eat, with Revolution she seemed okay until I did some research and found out that if not applied properly then they are not protected. It has to go on the skin and I just don't want to take the chance that I mess up giving it to her and BAM heartworms. Has anyone else had trouble with finding a medication? We had a test done to see if she has any reactions to medications or family of medications and everything came back no problems. Does anyone use an on line company to fill their pets meds? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

My vet put Ella on "Virbac - Iverhart Max", and she has been on it for the last several months. They are chewable tablets and the prescription name reads: "ivermectin/pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel", and are for heartworm, roundworm, and tapeworm.
Ella crunches them right up and doesn't have any problems with them.
I've read that many corgis are allergic to beef, and may heartworm pills are flavored with beef. If your dog is allergic to anything, you may want to check the ingredients in the pills.
good luck,

You can probably take the script to another veterinarian that carries Heartgard. Ask you vet if they can refer you to another vet in your area or call around.

My vet will fill online RX but was able to priec match for Sentinel. Never had trouble with it, but Didi is a rock and never has trouble with anything.
Are you feeding the heartworm medication with a meal, or on it's own? Putting something tasty on top of it might keep her from having loss of appetite.

Thanks Sam, our vet said that Sentinel and Intercept were pretty much the same chemicaly. Because they don't carry Heartgard she gave me a Rx for it. Just never had to fill a scrip for an animal not sure how to go about it and all.

Talk to your vet about Sentinel? Most online companies require your vet's Rx, and most vets will not fill online Rx, however you can talk to your vet to get him price match.
