Well we did it, registered Samantha (Sami) with AKC today. Her offical registered name is "WendtWorths Sassy Samantha Southwestern Senorita" boy if that's not a mouth full I don't know what is! LOL My husband said she will be called Sami and under my breath I said I'll always call her my demon dog :) Thank goodness! She is also doing beyond fantastic after being spayed on the 7th would never know she had anything done.

Trouble with Heartworm medication

Samantha is having trouble finding a heartworm medication that sets well with her. We have tried Interceptor, Revolution now I have a prescription from our vet for Heartgard. The trouble Sami has is with the first one 2 to 3 days after taking it she is tired doesn't want to eat, with Revolution she seemed okay until I did some research and found out that if not applied properly then they are not protected. It has to go on the skin and I just don't want to take the chance that I mess up giving… Continue

Update on Sami getting spayed today

First thanks everyone for all your good thoughts, wishes and prayers because they worked!!!!!! Fran, our vet called me at 9:45 this morning to tell me that her surgery was very hoo hum, boring just the way she likes them to be. No problems of any type plus Sami was already lifting her head up looking around and trying to stand up when she called. I dropped her off at about 7:15 (that's when they took her back, uugghh). Sami weighed in at 18.2 lbs.! I got to work at 7:30 and did not get out… Continue

Samantha gets spayed today

Well the morning has arrived. Right now Sami is banging her food and water bowls around in the kitchen. She did not like the fact that she did not get her cottage cheese first thing and now has not received any breakfast at all. I will take her in at 7 this morning visit her later today but they will be keeping her over night. Then I will go get her first thing in the morning and will take three days vacation to be with her. I am nervous and worried, we all the faith in the world in our vet and… Continue

Oh the joys of puppyhood

Although we have had her for such a short time really it has been nothing but a joy. We believe we have a champion frapper in the making, Sami can go like a bat on steroids. She has had only one accident in the house since Monday night when we got her. It was not her fault but mine, reminded me she was not the only one learning but so are we, I thought she was just talking (she is already very vocal) didn't understand she was saying "hey lady I gotta pee can you help me out here"? How such a… Continue

Sami has arrived

Well we were able to film her plane landing and when we first saw her in cargo pickup area. We did some video and pictures once at home. Will put those up tomorrow. For those who don't know we spent $1,200 on artifical grass to put down in the back yard we also have put in a special potty area for her....Yeah you guessed it first place we took her to was her potty area which she did nothing in BUT went right over and piddled on the $1,200 grass area I laughed my tail off that's my girl. She… Continue

Today is "SAMIDAY" or not

It is hard to believe that in just a little over 7 hours we will be seeing Samantha in person and bringing her home with us. Have been checking the flight information already (she hasn't even taken off yet). At first there was over an hour delay, which would not be good because her connecting flight is only a 30 minute lay over. But just got through checking again a few minutes ago and every leg of her trip is on time. Now just hope it stays that way. Needless to say I am certifiably bonkers at… Continue

WOMAN ON THE EDGE.....

I tell you I am a woman on the edge. It would not take much to push me over the edge either. I started puppy count down on my page at 40 days had lots of time. Have bought everything we can possibly think of (and then some:) for Samantha. Was going to come home early today and dig out the remainder of the catci in the side yard. It has taken weeks to get the 500 lb. cactus cut up and carted off. It was bad enough when "father time" was dragging his tail, slowing down time but now "mother… Continue

Maybe some answers on dog food

As I have said before I am no computer whiz. If you have questions on food I posted on Forum in Corge Health. Maybe this will help someone else. Hope so.

How many days (weeks) before you get your little bundle of joy?

Don't know about anyone else but with only 31 days left before we can get our hands on our little Sami there are times when I feel like I am going to burst! I just have to find someone to say ____ days left. Am I the only one that is in count down mode? I'm driving my husband crazy with it he says I have COB Sydrome---Corgi On Brain. LOL

Welsh Corgis Magazine

Just came back from the pet store, Pet Smart, had to find a Bumble Ball. Also found a magazine from the editors of DOG FANCY titled WELSH CORGIS volume 31 Popular DOGS Series (printed in 2008). Along with cute stories and even cuter pictures there is a wealth of information on grooming, training etc. As I have seen a lot of these questions on here and have had even more questions myself thought some might find it helpful. Did I mention all the cute pictures of those wonderful and adorable… Continue

Hot Dog (or in this case Corgi) she is all ours!!

We made our decision this morning and pick out our Samantha. Don't mind saying it was a hard decision as all the pups were beautiful, Wendt Worth Corgis are just fantastic. She was born on 2/17/09 in a litter of 4. For the last three weeks it was pure joy trying to figure out which one was for us. Before they were born we have been buying stuff. So far we have food & water bowl, collapsable water bowl, ball, red stuffed lobster complete with rope legs and squeaky, Pedi Paws, shower head… Continue

Have a favor to ask of everyone

I'm sorry to bother everyone but I have a favor to ask. Could everyone that reads this take just a moment to send prayers/good thoughts to a little momma to be, Megan. First and foremost that she comes through this just fine, she is taken excellent care of but this is her first litter. Second that the puppies are all healthy, see we are fortunate enough to be allowed to get one of her puppies for our very own. They are due very soon.

We lost Tedi in December after 12-13 years of joy with… Continue

Dog Park rules where you live

I just found out that a puppy has to be at least 6 months old before we can take it to one of the dog parks here. Guess we will have to rely on PetCo, Petsmart, and dogs in the neighborhood that use the track field at the middle school by our house to keep our pup (once we get one) socialized with other dogs! What are some of the rules at your dog parks. Also here if the animal is intact must have your intact license with you.
