Every tuesday and thursday I go home during my lunch to take care of my little Leo. My mom takes care of him all the other days while I'm at work because she works from home. Well, today is Tuesday. I love these days because I get to see him for a little while. During my lunch break I pick him up and take him to Papa's house (my boyfriend John). He gets to play all day with him. Until I pick him up after work.

This morning I took Leo for a walk around the neighborhood. We live in a gated Town house community and I know he hates the leash right now so I didn't bother with it. Its rainy out in my area (washington). I think he loves the rain or just being outside in general. Well, the walk was nice. He got a lot of attention from the neighbors because he's so darn cute. He usually ventures off into yards and such but today I brought treats with us.

Yesterday's puppy training class they taught us how to use the "clicker". I've heard of them before but never knew how to use them. This morning we got a lot of practice during our walk. Well, not a lot, but he got the idea that if he listened to me, there's a treat involved. As soon as he began to creep into someones yard or when he was distracted I would call his name, he'd begin walking towards me and when he looked at me I'd click and give him a treat. By the the time we hit the last 100 meters he was following me without the clicker and when we got to the door he got one last treat before I bought him in and dried him off.

He's learning so fast. As I'm sure a lot of dogs do. I can't wait until I teach him little tricks like balancing treats on this nose.

Corgis are so smart! It sounds like your little Leo is no exception!

Be very deliberate about the training. Plan your work and work your plan. All this investment will pay off handsomely. A pocket-sized screw-top can like a pill bottle is handy for treats.
And remember: no big physical challenges until he's a year old. Do not encourage jumping off of furniture, esp. onto smooth surfaces (we got a bunch of ugly nonskid throw-rugs for landing zones). No growth-plate injuries, please.
Lots of photos; don't use the flash.

Wow! I think Leo is a pretty fast learner even for a corgi. Its awesome that he is so responsive! I hope all his training goes as smoothly.
