We went on our first weekend visiting trip since we got Nellie. Spent the night with friends who have a golden retriever and a lab mix. Nellie had a blast crawling all over the big dogs. It was her first time playing with dogs other than her sisters before we got her. She was a little freaked at first, but warmed up quickly. Also visited my parents and my mother in law. They have two cats each, and my sisters cat was also at my parents. Nellie did okay with the cats. At times she was trying to play with my sister's cat. It was a great weekend for her to get experience meeting people and animals.
Today we went to the vet and she went into her usual crazy excited mode for seeing people other than Simon and me. I look forward to her becoming less excited to meet people because I don't feel like they get a true read on her personality this way. At home she is sweet and only occasionally gets rowdy with us when playing hard. Around new people however, it is a different story. She loves them so much she wants to EAT them. She can do sit, stay, and come most of the time now. Maybe with continued practice, sit will work around new folks. I hope so because nipping isn't cute and especially won't be when she is an adult dog. Any tips for meeting people, or is this how it is during puppyhood?
