Hi All,
I was asked by a mycorgi.com member where did my Blog go that I wrote saying who looks after our dogs after we are gone?. I got quite a few responses to it all positive!. I deleted it due to maybe too much personal information so here is a revised edition!.
My Question to all pet owners!
We all deal with the loss of a beloved pet or pets!. But what about the pets we leave behind? Who speaks for them? as they can't speak for themselves!. The questions are where do they go who looks after them for the rest of their lives?. As they gave us so much joy while we were alive don't you agree they deserve the same respect?.Yes they do! It is easy to set up a trust fund for an animal we set them up for our Children & Grandchildren we have wills stipulating who gets what!.Okay we are not all wealthy I'm far from it but we or most of us would have insurance policy's and Super funds. Why not set aside a bit of that for our beloved pets so they can live out the rest of their lives in comfort because I think you will all agree with me the money we leave family members and relatives and Grand Children for sure they are going to be out spending it unless you stipulate what is to be done with your Estate in Writing!.
I spoke to my Solicitor and he put a codicil in my will for Oscar & Sam stipulating my wishes for their well being and ongoing care for the rest of their lives!. This is also to include any other pet I might have at the time of my passing!.
Well with that all said and done what are your thoughts on the above revised Blog???.
Regards
Brian Oscar & Sam's Dad

My "almost" grandparents passed away and left a trust in place for their 3 animals(2 cats and a dog). It has been a lifesaver. Without the money there we would have still taken great care of them, however with all being 13+ having their medical bills covered is such a blessing. When one is sick and has to go the e.r. vet at 3 a.m, having that 500 dollar bill covered is a huge relief.
I wondered what happened to your first blog. I read it and saw some great comments.
Your discussion really has me thinking. I need to get a will and include my dogs care in it.
Thanks for starting this.
I also have money set aside in my will as well as my niece named to handle this money for any of my animals I leave behind. I can't bear the thought of any of them ending up in a home that might not be a good fit. This way I can be assured the best possible homes will be found for each one and any care for them will be provided.
