It takes time for a rescue dog to regain health and to be able to trust and love again but it is SOOOO WORTH IT to hang in there! My rescue needed time to settle in before she had was able to get her outside bathroom break routine down and she also had a horrible kennel cough for at least a month. She was very shy at first but now she is a lovable clown and she has tons of fans in our neighborhood because she is so friendly and loving.
Hang in there. Many rescue dogs have been through so much hardship and they are so grateful to finally have a loving home or at least the shot of having one in the future.
Bentley is a handsome boy with a great corgi smile! Love your pics and can't wait to see more!! He looks like he needs some more belly rubs, so get to work!! >:)
What a wonderful story! Bentley is incredibly blessed that you were there to save him. My story with Buddy, is just the opposite. I rescued him from the SPCA, but his problem was the reverse of Bentley's. Buddy weighed 53 lbs., when I brought him home! He was very well trained, has manners in the house and on leash, but haven't taken him to an all-Corgi event before! He was so over weight I could tell he was miserable. I also couldn't understand how someone could put what appeared to be such time in to this dog, just to have him become a stray? Was someone looking for him? I thought surely, if someone had lost him, they would know to check with all local shelters, vets, rescues, etc. He is now down to a healthy 31.5 lbs., and is ready to meet some friends. You must have a wonderful spirit to be willing to take on what many people would just call "a problem". For what its worth.....thank you! :)
Hurray to you for giving Bentley a forever home. I could just feel your excitement through your words and I'm sure you'll enjoy each other. He's one handsome corgi.
