HI Erika,
I know, corgis are such tough little guys and they don't complain. Sidney hiked miles with me in the hills and his only complaint was stopping to rest. He never liked to get up on his hind legs (to jump up on me or to put his paws on my knee to be petted), I now know that it probably hurt him to do it.
Hi Erika, Sidney is only three years old. In September, he was just walking down the hall behind me when he yelped in extreme pain, and would not put any weight on his back left leg. We called the vet and he was certain it was just a sprain. The next morning it was no better, so we took him in. Again, they thought it was a sprain, but decided to take x-rays to be sure. Then they found that his hips were in very bad shape, and what was causing the pain was that the left side had dislocated. They said they could not just pop it back into place because it would just pop out again. Our choices were the surgery, or medicate/crate him for the rest of his life. It was no choice, we had to do the surgery to give him a shot at a happy normal life.
I sure hope Ein has better news. If it is the front legs, it might be elbow dysplasia. Someone else on this site is dealing with that right now. Ugh, these things are heartwrenching. Please let me know what they tell you. I'll keep fingers crossed for good news.
Hey, I see your picture of Ein made the semifinals for the calender! Congratulations! My son loves the picture and voted for it. Sidney's in too, he's the one in the sunglasses on the blue pool chair!
As for food, I guess it depends on what you have available to you in Italy. What are the common brands? Generally we want to avoid any foods you can buy in the regular grocery store.
