Camera shy, and this pageant momma ain't gonna take it!

Skittles is camera shy, as in she tries to hide when I take it out, turn it on, snap a pic (with or without flash). This obviously gets in the way of me taking hundreds of pictures of her fuzzy face, so how do I get her to step into the limelight? What's worked for y'all?

Same here. Treats are a good focal point. I love taking pictures so I was bummed when Steve was a wee pup and kept moving his head right when I was ready to snap a pic (ugh, all those blurry faces....). I then did what Karen mentioned and lo and behold I had great pics. Hold a treat in one hand the camera in the other. Move the treat to where you want him to look. Good luck on snapping memorable pictures!

Karen's got it... treats!! Let her know what you've got, hold it by the camera, snap the pic, praise her, and give her a treat. Repeat. Eventually just the site of the camera will make her strike a pose! :-) Good luck!!

No I made Lance work for his treats also, during picture training! It was literally like a training session, I would give him commands like sit-stay, lay down, etc... and also gave out treats sparingly. I use his kibble for treats. I also have to do the same thing when playing frisbee with him otherwise he wants to run off and chew the frisbee, what a stinker! He makes me work at playing frisbee, thats not fair, lol I am hoping he will outgrow the wanting to chew the frisbee!

TREATS! TREATS and more treats! I don't just hand them out like crazy though. I hold the treat and have Bailey stare at it. *snap*snap* (take a picture or a few) then…. He gets the treat. He's really good at not chasing my hand or lunging for it (hopefully skittles is too!). Sometimes u can ask him to "watch me" so you can get him to stare at you and just have the camera right under eye level and snap the picture. Anyways, FOOD has to work! He's a corgi! =)

I am a picture fanatic so as soon as we brought Lance home at 14 weeks, I was bribing him with treats so I could get pictures. I take so many that eventually he will tire of them and give me the cold shoulder and look away, and he knows I am trying to take a picture! lol I know how you feel about having to have pictures. Does your dog respond to treats, maybe you could try bribing your dog with treats for pictures. Let me know how it goes! Hope you can figure out something :)

Try taking pictures around her, let her get used to the sound and flash of the camera, try taking pictures of other things while skittles is also in the same room, she'll get used to it in time :)
