2 Corgis in Colorado need help!
Someone might find this treatment acceptable. And if you are that type, please don't comment on my post :-) Thanks!
Anyhow, I've been to my storage unit a few times in the last year to hear several dog's yapping on the other side of the fence. I never thought twice about it until I hear it the other day when it was 0 degrees outside. So I decide to look over the fence. And to my amazement, 2 corgis. Both tied up, with their own ruts, perfect radius to tether ratio. Sad to see actually, so my heart went out to these little guys. I figured I'd take a video and see if anyone in Colorado has some ideas of helping these Corgis retire with some love :-)
I have 7 little Corgi's myself. And a pack of corgis are not letting new folks in very easy, so I cannot do much more then post this video for them. I do have their address. I'm not the kind of person to put myself into other folks business. But these corgi's bark just seems to be asking for help! Now, I could totally be wrong about the treatment here, but it just doesn't look like those dog's are receiving the attention they deserve. Last I checked Corgi(s) are full of energy, what a way to burn it, on a tether....
It's not like they are sled dog's living in the Alaskan wilderness... So I figured I'd keep an eye on these Corgi's... Just to see how often they are truly outside... I have a feeling 100% of the time. So far that is true...

Here's Englewood's Animal Welfare info page, at the very bottom, click on the animal welfare pdf file, read "7-1A-4: Tethering", if the owner does violate the law, you may bring in Code Enforcement at 303-762-2335.

Corgi man, I know you meant well. The key is not to judge someone and assume the worst without gathering all your facts first.
As a fellow corgi owner, you can go and introduce yourself as the storage renter next door, who couldn't help but overhead what your dogs were barking at, to your delight you discover that they too are corgi owners. Start simple conversation like, I notice their fur looks great, what kind of food do you feed them.... blah blah blah, if everything goes well, ask if you could meet them. From there you can actually hold them, run your fingers through the fur and have a visual confirmation if their skin is in healthy condition or not, is their teeth being taken care of. You'll probably notice if the house inside has water dish...etc. Then you can confirm if they are dedicated outside dog by asking "so where do they sleep and if they handle the cold well?", do not judge or react by their response. Once you've gathered all your facts, then you can think of what your next action should be. There is no point in speculation and nothing positive could ever come out of time - being spent this way. If you act appropriately and play your cards right, you may even gain an ally or find a chance to share your knowledge down the road.

I agree with the animal control idea, just not well thought out. If animal control comes, that opens a whole another can of worms. Which in my opinion is just not cool. I am one that believes in one's rights, and the snooping is why I even had a hard time posting the video. Let alone a post about it....
Animal control could be a one-way ticket to a kill shelter. and Sorry if you ask me they are alive and have been for quite some time now. I'm just concerned. and no were near close enough to call animal control.
I'd love to go talk to these folks, but what am I to do when I talk them out of their Corgi's? I have a feeling I could do it rolling up to that house with all my dogs. Seriously.... But that is just it. Any Colorado Corgi lovers want to get-in on helping? It's 2 more dogs for your pack! :-) I'm not doing it by myself. BUT I can help get the ball rolling for someone with some love to spare for 2 Corgis. I have no room :-(

If I was in your situation, I would knock on the door and introduce myself as a fellow corgi owner, get to know the family and see what's really going on. I'll be offended if I knew someone was snooping my backyard and decided to call animal control on me.

I would call Animal Control, have them do a home check. Each state has their own set of laws, but in many states its illegal to leave your dog chained outside. They may be able to get these guys into a better home.

Ok video works now.... Thanks for the encouraging words. Feels weird trying to jump into someones business... My landlord does not know them. They have moved into this house within the last year or 2 max.

why don't you talk to the owner of the storage unit company and ask if he/she knows the people with the Corgis behind the business? See if you can get in touch with them and try to be friendly, mention you have Corgis too, etc. and see if maybe they could use some help finding those two a home where they have more freedom and attention? Or, call the humane society and let them know you think these dogs are being neglected, see what they say... Thanks for caring!
