Corgi Shopping and a Question

So, we did some preliminary corgi shopping today. We go to pick up junior next week when he'll be about 9 weeks old. We purchased all kind of dog necessities - shirts, jackets, booties - just kidding. Really we got the cool refilling water bowl, some toys, puppy shampoo, a collar and leash, a brush, a frisbee, etc. The big debate is what size crate is best - 30 or 36 inches? So, what do you all think? Advice needed. BTW, we still don't have a name for the little guy. We've been researching Welsh names, but nothing has worked for all of us. We will consider all suggestions. Thanks.

Comment by angie on May 2, 2009 at 8:47pm: hi, when looking for welsh names are you only looking at human names or how to say something about the pup in welsh? with my first corgi i looked at a welsh dictionary and found several things i thought would be good for her, then i saw another picture of her and she was all black except for a small white diamond on her forehead, so i chose Glo which in the dictionary i had meant coal. my most recent baby is a amber pembroke and she is the coloring of toffee. so we named her Cyfliath which is toffee in welsh and we call her kivvy. so i guess what i'm saying is don't limit yourselves to human names because any welsh word will sound cool and exotic, even when we don't pronouns them correctly.

Comment by Amy on May 2, 2009 at 8:08pm: I agree you need to start out with the smaller size. If the crate is too big the dog will soil one side and sleep on the other defeating the purpose. Some crates come with dividers so you can divide off the crate and make it smaller. You could then purchase a bigger size and divide it until she is larger.
