On Sunday the 16th of Feb., HUMDOG (Humboldt Dog Obedience Group) held a Dog Expo in Eureka, CA. The purpose was to educate and inform members of the general public about the various breeds of dogs and also give demonstrations of various acivities that dogs are involved with in the local communities. There were demos of obedience training at all levels, up to utility, rally-o, agility, cart and sled pulling, service work, and a "parade of breeds" letting the public see the various breeds. Timmy and I had the honor of being the PWC representatives and enjoyed our role as you can see by the pictures (sorry about the quality).

Timmy participated in the parade and while the announcer gave a description of the breed, characteristics, etc, we circled around the ring and stopped to wave at each end. I'm telling you, this dog should have been in movies, he's a real ham, hundreds of people didn't make him flinch, instead he strutted around just like it was Westminster!!! LOL No one ever told him he is oversized and of poor conformation, I guess. Anyway we both had a blast and made lots of new cardi friends. There was one in the booth with us and three adjacent to us. Picture of them included. Everyone we talked to enjoyed the expo. It was first started in the late 1970's, and stopped in 1995 before being started up again this year.

Next year maybe I'll just go to have some fun instead of sitting and telling everyone about all the cons of owning a corgi, like SHEDDING, instinctual herding behaviors, YAPPING, and endless energy!! In talking with other breed owners and handlers that's what it was (why you shouldn't own a ________). Everyone would say, oh he's so cute, looks just like a fox and he's so wonderful with people and kids, he must be a wonderful family dog. (Hold breath, count to 10) "Thank you, Yes it's only taken me 4+ years to train him!, and I continue to work on it every day, and on average I spend over a thousand dollars a year to keep him healthy, fit, fed and well mannered so that he can be a contributing community member and therapy dog. If you're willing to give the time and financial commitment a corgi is the most wonderful family dog I can think of. He's a natural comedian that will keep you entertained each day with antics, starving looks and FRAP's around the room. I can think of no other breed I would own at this time of my life. As a matter of fact he is my 4 legged soul mate."
