So my little boy, OG, is 4 months old now. And I take him to the dog park quite frequently. He loves it! He plays so well with every dog ( usually will only play with small dogs) and he gets so excited to go. Up until now we have had great experiences. But today we were there and he was playing great with this small dog when all of a sudden this other small dog runs up and starts attacking my puppy! he was biting him and pinned him down. It went on for like ten seconds before I could pull the dog off OG and end it. But OG was screaming so loud it was horrible. He seemed fine like a minute after it happened though. We left the park and I went and played with him in the grass for a while. He has no wounds and he seems perfectly fine. But it scared ME so bad! Also I have yet to see a corgi at a dog park.... So I guess my question is... Do you all have any trouble at dog parks? Do you like dog parks?

Was the other dog alone running free at the dog park? It really dosen't matter if it's a dog park, beach, open field, pond, etc.... most places are usually fine, but this is one of those times when you can put dogs and children into the same category. Ever been in a store and see a child running and screaming pulling everything off of the shelves. It's really no different than a dog running wild at the dog park. If a child or dog has bad parents/owners then we can all have bad experiences. The other dogs owner should have been right there and stopped the bad behavior !!!!!!!!!

This is why we avoid dog parks as much as possible. We usually bring Kenji to a local park, off leash since there are never any dogs playing at the back of the park. Whenever I see another dog, I immediately leash Kenji. I also carry bitter apple around, good way to gain control without harming either dogs.
Dog Parks are a great idea in theory but because dogs and owners don't have to take an entrance exam they can be chaotic parasite infested site. Many dogs do great at dog parks but I too have lost interest in them. Not because of an attack or other such event but simply because the dogs that are around are either too boring or they are too wild. My Little Daisy loves to play fetch but with all the unknowns there and people who don't spend the money for flea and heart worm medicine there is no telling what is in the ground that the ball she fetches rolls over. I have found that the mountain is the ideal place to take the dogs. It is often times uninhabited by other humans and provides a great place for them to run and exercise free of cars and other hazards. Too often people get mutts or rescues whose past or hereditary nature can't be known which can lead to trouble in the dog park. other times people just bring mean dogs.
