I have elected myself to write this post because I live in Tucson Arizona where the temp is regularly 100 or above in the summer and not just for an hour but from 9:00am until sometimes 10:00 pm. And I own a fluffy corgi. There is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to shave your corgi!!!!!!
Just type "shave a double coated dog" into Google and see what comes up. No it's not a good idea, no it's not a good idea, no it's not a good idea!!!! That is what will come up. Not only is it ugly but it is bad for them! Sorry I am being so harsh. I just think sometimes people are tired of dealing with the hair and are looking for an excuse to shave their dog so they don't have to put up with it. Get a Shiatsu

I used thinning shears on his ear fringe today. :)  He's almost got standard ears now - but with that ruff, he kind of reminds me of a vulture (a really CUTE one). :)  We've been pleased with his haircut (especially what she did underneath to thin him out). Thankfully, I found a groomer who errs on the conservative side and is careful about keeping the cut looking blended.

the last one is the best idea:)  and cutest
I just ordered a ChillyBuddy and will report on it in September.

I recommend the Chillybuddy (TM) dog cooling vest on the basis of this summer's experience.

I'v used it on a couple of really rough trips.  I do believe it helps in the hot sun above timberline, where there's no shade.  It is important to keep it wet;  carry it it a tough plastic bag, when it dries out, put it in the bag and add the dog's leftover drinking water.

I'm a backpacking gear freak.  It takes something good to earn my recommendation.

The medium size is best with our 21 7 25  lb. Pems.  Custom-made sizes are available -- Cardi ownners, you might consider this.

It can get a bit tatty after a lot of thick bushwhacking -- the mylar tends to pull out in loops -- but it does not unravel, and can a certain amount of abuse.  It seems to carry well and does not impede the dog.

This pic makes me chuckle.....that's one kool korgi!

thanks for the update John:)

Thanks for posing this. Whenever I see a shaved corgi I can't help but cringe. They're such beautiful dogs..and they're ruining it! I can't watch!
You are right. It should even be an issue for those of us that have a corgi for more that two days. If you did your research you would know not to do that. It is not a good idea !!!!!!! Good post
