Hi everyone, I am looking forward to when I can start taking Kara with me various places. I know she can go to petsmart and petco with me, what are some other places that you like to take your corgi?

If you're looking for some ideas locally, I would reccommend:

The Rochester Small Dog Playgroup: http://activedogs.meetup.com/19/

If you enjoy hiking (when she gets a little older) The Gennessee Valley active dogs group: http://activedogs.meetup.com/152/

We also hope to have the first of the four log parks open this fall. (We are SO close to the $$ needed.) The dog park website is http://www.mcdogparks.org/. The $$ raised will be updated next week after all of the money raised at the Lilac festival is included. There is a "Paws in the Park" dog walk on June 1st that should have a great turn out. There will be many dog related vendors in addition to the walk. It's listed under the "events" section on the above website. I am volunteering and will have Emmy with me at this event.

Happy to answer any questions you may have on any of the above. Take care.
The farmer's market and the beach are good places!
Farmers market! Great idea
We like to stroll downtown areas of the small towns in our areas. They get to meet other dogs and people like to meet them, so they get socialization. It gets them a little more used to people on bikes, skateboards and motorcycles, and they really seem to love poking their heads into the various shops that we pass.

We also have a park with a creek that they can wade around in.
We have a park that allows dogs - kind of a running/walking track around a lake. We take Chloe every weekend. Actually, we walk there from our house... it's about 3 blocks away.

I would love to see what Chloe thinks of waves on a beach! Not too many beaches in Oklahoma. :)
i take my dog to an off-leash dog park. Scout loves it! he was kind of shy and didnt want to socialize until he met his bestfriend Dora( a little black terrier mix) now, every time he even gets near the dog park and sees her, he goes bonkers! word of caution though: there are irresponsible dog owners who will not know the difference between play and fight or when their dog may be badgering or playing to hard with your dog. Scout officially doesnt like to play with pitbulls because the ones he met dont seem to understand the size difference.
dont be afraid to tell them that your dog has had enough and take your dog out of the fray or make them leash their dog. Be especially wary of the inattentive ones like people who leave the dog park gate open, or allow their dogs to gang up on other dogs, as well as people who let their dogs be leashed to children; they mean well, but often the children have no idea what they are doing.

I also suggest the beach. my corgi has a thing for sand. maybe yours does too!
Sidney gets crazy in the sand! Sets him off an instant frapping frenzy. We've often wondered why this is, but I guess Sid is not the only one who does it.
Thank you all for the great ideas and the great advice!
