We did a puppy class through the anti-cruelty society. My husband and I were both very impressed with them.

Thanks for starting this discussion. Lulu and I are moving to Oak Park next month, and also need some suggestions about the obedience classes.

We took several classes for our 2 corgis at "Anything is Pawsible" and "Barker Behavior". They are both great. Especially Rendy(anything is pawsible) and Brandi(Barker Behavior) are really really good trainers. If you go any of these, check who is the trainer for the class before you sign up.

Thank you everyone! I will most likely be taking the classes with Charlie at the Anti Cruelty Society, especially since they have a wee ones class, so I can start right away. Will let you all know how it goes!

I took my little girl to the German Shepherd Club in Hanover Park.  They do all breed obedience classes.

Hey guys,

I have a 3.5 month old. I'm looking to start socializing him with other pups. Any ideas? I have my reservations about socializing him with other dogs while on a leash, but all the dogs in my neighborhood are too big for him to play with off leash. Is obedience class a good and safe way to have Winston meet other pups?

I think so! The classes we did with Chicago Anti-Cruelty Society gave the pups play time at the beginning and end of every class. They said they only do socialization for the pre-school classes. It was great to have the leaders there to oversee how they were playing especially when we had no idea what good play looked like. They also encouraged off leash play only because they can develop leash agression otherwise.

I'm the Arlington Heights PetSmart Trainer, I recommend watching their classes, You can find a kick butt trainer but if you don't like their training style or their personality or whatever. This will take the fun out of class
