Hello, we just got our girl Gilly a couple days ago. So far, so good. And when I say that, I mean REALLY good. So good, in fact, that I'm becoming suspicious of what's to come! During the ride home from picking her up, she didn't whine once. She slept most of the time while one of us drove and the other sat with her in the backseat. Bringing her home, she was quick to explore every room. She quickly fell in love with her two squeaky toys (she has already killed the squeaker in one of them!) and seems to have designated a couple places in the living room as nap spots.
Speaking of naps, she has probably spent over half of the time sleeping! She has been good at night when going in her crate. There in some minimal whimpering for about two minutes, but then she just kinda passes out! First thing in the morning, roughly 6:00 or so, she cries for us to take her out. Unfortunately, as I am putting my sandles on and attempting to put her leash on - she has peed on the floor both of the first two mornings. I guess I should be a bit quicker, but I'm going about as fast I can! Despite this, I am very relieved that she can make it throughout the night without peeing in her crate! It's good to see that she understands not to go to the bathroom where she has to sleep.
Teaching her to sit has been pretty simple, however having her lay down in a bit trickier. I'm not really sure how to teach some of these commands, any help would be appreciated. Her biting hasn't been too bad, just some nips when she is licking my ears. She gets a little carried away from time to time, but after a firm "NO BITE!" and putting my hand on top of her nose she gets seems to understand and pouts for a bit.
I'm hoping that she keeps behaving so well in the near future. I can't tell you how relieved we both have been that she has not deliberately tried to use the bathroom inside. Accidents will happen, like they seem to first thing in the morning, but other than that there have been no other occurances at all.
BTW, anyone got any good advice for a durable brand of squeaky toys I can purchase at PetSmart? She was pretty annoyed when she broke her favorite new toy!
Thanks yall...
