Ok, first of all Einstein is obvious. The first time I saw a corgi is when we were living in Japan (my husband's in the Air Force) and we were watching Cowboy Bebop at a anime FREAK friends house. I think they had every one ever made good or bad and made us watch them all. lol! Anyway, we loved Cowboy Bebop just cause it was so different and kinda neat. And of course I loved Ein-didn't get Ed so much but Ein was cute and saved the day a couple times so he was cool. I don't know any other dog that knows computers like Ein does. We lived in Japan 6 years and corgis got to be kinda popular off base and I kept seeing them and thought they were sooo cute. One day we went to Tokyo and our hotel was near a dog groomer and this woman with 6 beautiful poofy perfect corgis came walking down the street towards it and we just happened to be walking by and I was like a magnet to her. I didn't know if she knew English but thankfully she knew a little and I kept going saying how cute they were and how "kawaii" they were. She just kept saying thank you. But that impression never left my head and when we moved to San Antonio I had already decided I wanted a brown and white Pembroke named Einstein. Ein for short and that's just what we did. And we loved him so much we got another corgi and named her Daisy. We had to have a boy and a girl and she just happens to be his half sister so they have kind of the same bossy personaliities which I think is funny sometimes and not so much others. But Daisy had many names before we settled on Daisy May. It was Basil which didn't fit her personality and then Bella which was too dainty and finally Daisy May which fit her perfectly. I think that was all the names we actually called her but we thought of so soooo many. It was much harder with her cause we didn't have a name picked out years ahead of time.

I debated for a really long time on what I would name my corgi. I try to be as unique as I can be when it comes to naming my pets.

I started off with Zeek, (yes I know it is normally spelled Zeke) if it was a boy, and Mika if it was a girl. Then I went to Deacon, but that didn't set quite right with me. I went on rattling off name ideas to both my mom and boyfriend, in hopes that something would stand out to us. Names spanning from Greek, to Hawaiian, Japanese, to Old English.

Wasabi was the first name that peaked our interest. Then I found on YouTube that someone had already named their Corgi that.

Then I thought about a corgi; short in stature, large dog in a small dog suit, intelligent, real go getters,...BANZAI! A bonsai being a small tree that looks as if it were imitating a big tree, and Banzai being loosely the Japanese equivalent of "hooray," or "go get'em!" It was perfect!

I informed my friends, both IRL, and online about my getting a corgi. All they had to say was, "you have to name it Ein!" NO! I am sorry but, just, no. My props to Bebop for introducing me to the breed but to me naming a corgi Ein is now like getting a tribal tattoo (EVERYBODY has one.) I am not going to be a sheep in this decision, sorry...

Then a friend shouted out "Banzai Fuzzybutt," and from then on the name stuck. I love Rei for her random outbursts.
Yeah, that's the way I've come to feel too. I wanted to name my corgi Ein, but my roommate talked me out of it saying it was out of the question since everyone and their mom has named their corgi that (not that it's a bad thing... it's just, eh). And I'm really glad he did. Instead after much deliberation and tossing of names around we decided to call him Leon, after Leon Kennedy in RE, though I was and still am, really tempted to call him Stubbs. :) He really loves to chew on me. I'm sure it will probably end up being his nickname since half the time I'm mixing up Leon with Simon, our cat. Plus Stubbs the Zombie is a good contrast with Simon Belmont. Yeah... all around geeky.

I love the name Banzai Fuzzybutt. It's really unique and you can bet that no one will ever forget or mistake it for something else. ^_^
He looks like a Leon, or a Stubbs. So cute.

I really just wanted my corgi to have a name that *I* picked out for him. It's not like all corgis roll off a production line with 'Ein' stamped on their foreheads. We get to be creative when coming to own something that is precious to us. So, why not take that liberty?
Now that's a funny picture. A bunch of corgi's just rolling out of a factory with "Ein" stamped on their heads. :) Ready made Ein's!

I just didn't realize at the time how many corgi's were named that, but boy do I now. Shouldn't find it so surpruising though with how popular the show is, it's only natural. There is a lot to be said for creativity though too.
The original Ein was a "Data Dog", created by some experiment on Mars. Who's to say it didn't happen like that? There may well have been a Data Dog factory.
I love picking out names, it doesn't matter if it's for a child, a painting I've done, or our new puppy. So you can imagine my excitement when I knew I was getting a Corgi pup. My boyfriend being the conformist he is, "let's name it Ein!" i refused for obvious reasons, there are so many of them. we talked to our friend who we were getting the dog from, and what do you know.... he was ALREADY named Einstein. i was annoyed at first, but i like the name now and it fits him well. he's too smart for his own good!
Nice to find someone that has good taste in TV as well as dogs! I can't tell you how many times we've watch each episode and the movie... Cried when Wash didn't make it...
I'm a big Firefly fan as well - that's awesome! Your own Firefly family.

I named my dog Roscoe, and I don't know why, I just like the name. For a while I knew I wanted a dog named Roscoe, I just didn't know what kind of dog I wanted.
Because she looks sort of like a potato. We named her taters
My oldest Jack got his name on the drive home from Missouri to California by showing his true colors he was a little jackass so by shortening it he earned the name Jack and it fits him perfectly to this day.

Our second one a little girl was a tough one we had never had a girl before so we didnt know what to expect. So we waited to see her personality she was a little tough girl she would right with cat who was 2ce her size and jack and chuck our air dale who just pasted away on Thanksgiving. So her Attitude gave her her name Addie miss attitude. She is the one who runs the house now adays

and Rambo our newest addition to the family we thought his name fit when we got him but it doesnt any more he is like scared of everything =)
its still his name amd its not changing anytime soon
I very much wanted to name my corgi Ein but my family wouldn't hear it. So they through out all sorts of ideas until finally he sat down like a dog I had once seen on a cartoon before. If you've ever watched Rocko's Modern Life (on Nickelodeon in the 90s) there's a dog on there who's a little dumb but very cute and who would sit strangely with his tongue hanging out named Spunky. So when I saw my puppy sit like that and stick his tongue out I called him a Spunky Wannabe. Spunky just stuck. :)

We had a mug shaped like that dog and called it "the ugly dog mug." It was where we kept pens, pencils, etc. in the kitchen. We loved that mug. We loved that show. Mug was lost when we moved. End of an era for us. Good luck, Spunky mug, wherever you are!
