So lately Clutch has been steeling thing from table tops. I have a pull out night stand that is almost always closed and onto of it I keep two tubes of albuterol sulfate solution. Well I left it pulled out while I brushed my teeth and when I came back the solution was gone. We found it in Clutch's crate and googled the consequences. His little heart was racing and his skin was so red! We took him to the doggy ER and he stayed the evening. I picked him up at 7 this morning and now he is waiting for his regular vet to open so that he can spend the rest of the day there.

I have learned now not to leave anything laying about. Clutch has also started to steel bits of paper form the coffee table and has attempted to eat a roll of t.p. like spaghetti. He also got a hold of a tack and ran around the house with it until I was able to trade him a treat for it.

Clutch is now 9 months old and never really had the puppy stage where he got into things or tried to eat things that were not his. It is kinda of difficult for us to not trust him anymore because he earned it so well as a young puppy. I guess we have to prepare ourselves for the second puppy faze now.

This is Clutch in the car getting picked up form the ER.

Here's a discussion about babyproofing.  Everything has to be out-of-reach.  It's quite difficult because you have to change longtime, formerly innocuous habits.  For example, I used to save empty plastic dog-food bags 'cause they were handy trash can liners...WRONG; and you have to watch visitors, who'll think nothing of, say, putting an empty potato chip bag into an open wastebasket.  Keep xylitol out of the house entirely.  Even countertops are not 100% safe; someone lost a dog to a snack bag that the cat knocked down.

In memory of Teddy (bag asphyxiation) and Siri (choking).

Thanks for the reminder. it is something that I must think about daily. Mine really dont get into things b ut  I dont want to be careless

I learned very early on that Lucy will get into anything within reach. This morning I heard a crinkle sound and found her happily trying to eat my latest issue of Rolling Stone. I try to put everything I can high up or locked in a closet but it's hard to get everything. I hope your guy gets better soon, he is so adorable!

Aw, Clutch is a beautiful boy and I'm glad he's ok. I used to think, how can people be so foolish letting their dogs get into stuff...until I accidentally left my pantry door open...where the big bag of dog food lives...yep, I came home to a slow moving Corgi with a huge swollen stomach. Next day there was a mound of poop like you've never seen in the backyard. They will get into things if you're not on your toes :)

I was devastated when Poodeck reverted, I was so disappointed!  I thought we had made progress, only to seem to go back to square one.  However, one day I was equally as surprised when I realized....he was actually listening and would obey commands and I do not know when that started to happen, but it did.  I think at one point I trusted too soon; he was still a pup.  Don't lose heart--they are strong headed and it takes a while.
