This morning I woke up to my 3 year old corgi seizing. She had 3 within 30 minutes and my vet told me to bring her on in. The doctor said they would give her a shot of anti seizure and watch her overnight. I was wondering if anyone knows if the doctor will put her on medication or tell me to keep on watching her and document her seizures if she has anymore. I don't know her history since she was a rescue and worried that she may have a health issue causing this.

This is is the hardest part getting them under control. I lost 3 days of my life when Payton began having seizures. It took lots of pheno and valium..plus immediately going to an Internal Medicine Vet. After we did chose to do all the tests and decided it was idiopathic epilepsy, he had to be on BOTH pheno and potassium bromide. If your vet hasn't consulted a specialist, I would highly recommend that you do do ASAP. Also the above link was a god send for me in understanding what was happening and helped me to make educated descisons.
My thoughts are with you and Lily.....Since she is a rescue, and this is going to be costly, you maybe able to apply to corgi aid and corgi pals for help. also if you haven't already, look into care credit. Since Payton wasn't a rescue and corgipals didn't exist at the time, that's how I was able to pay for everything.
Thank your for your help.
Did yours ever go through with that many seizures in one day? I just feel like that is so many. When I hear about other's dogs who have had seizures its normally 1 here then another later in the week.
Yes, those first 3 days were terrible. He had lot of cluster seizures back to back. And until we got his meds right would have several.
Glad mine isn't the only one. Has he had any since while being on the meds?
yes, he a couple until we got the med correct. once the meds were correct- he was on a combination of pheno and potassuim bromide as his seizures were bad.
Then the first signs that his kidneys were failing and had developed high blood pressure as well, he had a few minor seizures. We then began treating the other issues and that lasted about a year, before he crossed the bridge on August 31, 2011. Payton had many issues not just epilepsy.
