I just realized how many people have corgis that like the water. Charlies hates the water, he is afraid of plastic bags, the water hose and flies ( only flies in the house, he tries to herd flies if he sees them outside).
These are just a few of the strange little oddities about him that I call "corgi quirks". Does anyone else have precious babies with corgi quirks?

My dogs hate the sound the sherder makes. They want to get the paper as it goes into it. It drives them nuts.

Because Bear travels with us everywhere we go, we thank God everyday that he is just a normal little dog.
Both of my pups love the water. Bertie is a wader, but Ethel loves to jump in and swim -- even in the ice-filled Pomperaug River, which she did just yesterday. Bertie has two quirks -- one is that he bites trees. It's part of his inner squirrel hunter, apparently, but he bites them whether or not he's spotted a squirrel. He's also afraid of tape measures (the contractor kind, that extend out of metal or plastic containers). When I bring one out, he barks and jumps around, then removes himself to a place of safety (like another room). I'm not sure where that came from -- a traumatic measuring incident as a newborn puppy? Otherwise, he's so mellow and nothing gets him at all -- very mysterious.
Geordi will bark at any dog or animal on tv. The strangest thing- my husband routinely runs with him on a skateboard and HE LOVES IT, but if he sees someone on a skateboard in public, he runs the other way. I have to carry him by a skateboarder- he REFUSES to walk, its the same with someone playing basketball or pushing a baby stroller. He will also groan at night. He sleeps under the bed, if the bed moves at all he will groan until it stops. If we're making the bed move *:)* he will yell at us until we stop. As soon as we stop, he stops and goes to sleep, what a grump!

My boys are very different.  Redford herds the sprinklers.  Butler couldn't be bothered.  Butler will sit in the kiddie pool.  Redford ignores it.  Both hate the vacuum cleaner.  Butler is afraid of traffic & big machinery (really didn't do well when we had to dig up the septic tank line with a backhoe).  Redford wants to see what the big machine does and how close he can get.  Both dislike the broom & the swiffer dustmop.  Butler has a thing for the swiffer duster-he wants to get hold of it and really gets in the way.

Both fart.  If someone else farts, they want to see where it came from.  We were playing with Redford once and gave him a little squeeze around the waist.  He farted with a little toot.  He was really surprised and confused.  He wanted to know what made the noise.

There is no such thing as a Corgi without quirks. If Murray hears even the tiniest fart he immediately gets off the bed in disgust.  He loves the water.  He has to rest his nose on the side of his bowl when he drinks.  He will lie on his side on the sofa and motion with his head til you give him a tummy rub.  Too many quirks to name.  What I love about Corgis.

Ziggy is also scared of plastic bags, if he hears one crinkle, he cowars away and looks like there's a monster after him. I take this as a blessing in case I ever accidently left out a plastic bag, though. I haven't yet, but mistakes happen. (He's even scared of the Doritos bags, which have yummies in them!)

I haven't had Ziggy out by a lake or beach yet, but he doesn't seem to mind baths and even lays down in them, so I don't know how he would do with bodies of water.

He won't go up our apartment stairs, I think they scare him because they are hollow and you can see under each step, which is exactly at his eye level when his front paws are on one step and his hind are on a lower one.

When it's dinner time, Ziggy dances in circles and bows a lot, usually accompanied by little woofs and snorts, plus while carrying over his food to his dish, he walks in between my legs, which makes things a little tougher because I'm clutzy already and I am trying to not spill the kibble water from the full cup:)
