UPDATE:
I gave Lance one 25 mg pill at around 10:00 am for a trial run. He currently is still really groggy and laying by my husband. I am not liking watching him so groggy. :( He did wag his tail for me. Oh and it is 8:00 right now.
My daughter is mad at me, for giving him the Ace. Teenagers...sigh. Although I do know how she feels, I am trying to figure out the best solution. I definitely don't like seeing him like this.
Lance did perk up quite a bit to eat his dinner though!!! My husband hand fed him until he knew he would be ok then Lance took over. This was encouraging to see, how is it he could be so out of it, but bring food around and bam, awake!?
I do think we are going to have to come up with some other solution to Lances anxiety on Saturday. It will be in the 100's so going for too many walks probably will be out of the question but maybe some short ones, including one right before the party.

Thanks Jane!
I agree with the last post. Timing is important and if you are going to be running around madly for the last hour, give it to
him before that even. They need to be calmed down way before the activity.
Thanks Lois!
Sorry I didn't see this until now, but I think you dosed him too high! When we were giving Brodie Ace (after he chewed out sutures and was wearing the cone of shame) we only gave him 1/2 of a 10mg! That was enough to make him sleep all night and he was about 25 lbs at the time. If you gave your boy 25 mg, then that was enough to knock out a much larger dog!
When we did our trial run, we gave him 25 mg and found out it was too much :( Although the vet had recommended 3/4 of a pill to a whole pill. I wanted to see how the full dose would affect him, not realizing it would knock him out for the day. :(
We needed something that would relax Lance with a house full of people, which he stresses out over. This was our first experience ever using this med and now know 25 mg is too much. The day of the party I had given him 1/4 of a tablet, and then a little while later given him another 1/4. Unfortunately, my daughter had said they're here...way before the party even started and I think that got him worked up before the meds even had a chance to work. darn kids!!!! Unfortunately, the day of the party he barked the entire time on and off :( Although there were periods of time he was quiet for quite a while.
If we ever have to use it again, we will try 1/2 of a pill right off the bat.
