Hello All,

I know there are several posts regarding potty training, but I haven't seen anything that applies to one specific issue.

Indy has been doing very well with potty training- as far as going potty when we take him outside. We take him the second he is out of his crate, after/during playtime, after eating, and anytime he gets his ''I have to poo'' look.

Unfortunately, we haven't figured out his ''I need to pee'' look. He doesn't whine, sniff, or anything out of the ordinary and then he'll just start peeing on the floor. Often, he will have gone in the past thirty minutes and I know his bladder can hold it longer than 30 minutes at 12 weeks.

When we go outside and he potties, my husband and I praise and pet him and let him play afterwards. We stick to the same spot and don't say anything until he goes.

Any suggestions on how to get him to let us know he has to urinate? I've heard of using bells. Has that worked for anyone?

OH and he could care less about playing with me, he just wants to destroy things...eat cat poop etc.

Indy is pretty big on destruction too, but I just make sure to stick something better for him to chew on in front of him if he gets distracted. I have hard and soft things. He likes to chew the carpet and the table, so I pick a hard or soft thing based on what he is chewing on at the time. If he is into destruction, give him a piece of fabric- he can tear it up and it will be just fine. Do you have a rope toy? That is the only thing Indy wants to play with me with. We play tug-of-war and snake rope and he has a blast. Maybe he just hasn't found his ''thing'' yet.

Thanks, Ludi. I usually keep him confined to the kitchen if I can't be with him, but I'm within earshot. If not, he is in his crate. Maybe I'm trusting him with too much too fast.I read the common mistakes article and that has been helpful getting him to get the idea down of potty training, we just can't seem to get this one thing under control. I just can't seem to predict when he will urinate like I can when he has to go #2.

Indy does those puddles too- I had to go to Sam's to get more paper towels a week before my normal monthly run!

Ace has beautiful markings!

Hi Elizabeth, it will come to you in time. 12 weeks out of 9 months is just the beginning, you'll get there :)

Thank you for the encouragement!
