Our corgi has a very thick coat, and when we try to clean her, the shampoo cant get to the skin. (Yes its that thick).
Should we brush her more? or what do you all reccomend.

Try a Zoom Groom while you're shampooing (use it on a wet, sudsy coat)- it's a rubber brush that helps loosen dead hair and get right down to the skin. Here's a link: http://www.puplife.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/3695589/vpcsid/...
I would also suggest using a Zoom Groom while bathing. It works well to get the shampoo down in her fur.

I would suggest brushing her with a Furminator. It pulls out the dead hair and helps with shedding. This may help thin out her fur for baths.
My hairstylist gave me this tip...works great on my corgi's super thick coat. Pre-mix the shampoo with some water, shake it up and apply to your corgi's wet coat. You can use a shampoo bottle, a squeeze bottle, but I just stir the shampoo and some water in a cup, works just fine.
Right, the key is lots of water, getting them good and wet before using shampoo ( we have a shower massage where a I can get the sprayer right down next to the coat) I also dilute the shampoo with water and mix well before pouring it over them. Seems to work Great
I think the ticket is making sure you get her totally wet. I have some very thick coated dogs and I can get the shampoo to the skin. Seems just taking the extra time to get the coat wet down to the skin is the answer. Takes a good amount of time but it does work. Bathing corgis really is not a frequent necessity unless they roll in something foul or have skin issues. Regular brushing certainly does keep most quite tidy. I think every six to eight weeks is generally sufficient unless they happen to be "mud pups" like a few of mine are.
