Bark Box questions
I keep seeing these Bark Boxes and thinking it would be a great idea. Could someone who has experience please tell me if they ever include hard toys? All of the ones I have seen so far come with plush. Star Fox would have these torn to shreds in about 5 minutes :)

Hehe, Star Fox has the ferocity that would rival any larger breed. He does like rope toys though. Was the peanut a hard rubber? I don't necessarily like buying him insanely hard stuff, just the durable rubbers similar to JW pets and Nylabone. I think I'll try a month and if he likes it, I'll sign up for more. Thanks!

i'm waiting for the day when machete starts destroying toys, so far he hasn't really torn anything apart, but he's just a lil guy and has lots of toy destroying practice ahead of him :)

we have barkbox, we LOVE barkbox, machete loves barkbox. you can google barkbox reviews for examples of previous boxes but there are different "themes" every month, like february is national pet dental health month, and different types of stuff - treats, dog grooming care, coupons, vouchers, toys, etc. we've only had 2 boxes so far, so i cannot say for certain there will be no hard toys ever, but there's a fair mix of different things.
also, DEFINITELY contact barkbox directly for questions, because they are so super helpful and nice. they even have a chat feature on their website.
last night, i mentioned fab.com has a barkbox deal for 26% off, we also have a referral link for $5 off your subscription, but the other deal saves you more.
to start, though. we only got one box because i didn't know if i wanted a long subscription, and it's been super awesome so far. so we've extended. the durable wee-nut that aragorn mentioned is really durable, and great for chewing (and stowing treats inside!), and yes, for my own amusement i'll be reviewing and posting barkbox content every month, with help from machete :)

I've seen the pictures and thought "that looks cool but mine would destroy it!"
Rope tugs are for interactive play only in my house, or they are destroyed in about a half hour (and we get the super-sized ones for 100 pound dogs).
Miss Madison managed to bite a big hunk off a black Kong (the one for aggressive chewers).
We buy the cheapest plushes we can find sometimes just to give the dogs something to shred. They can desqueak a brand new toy in about 5 to 15 minutes. We even bought special ones at the vet that have a plastic cage inside to protect the squeaker. The behaviorist said her Border Collies are pretty strong chewers and they lasted a couple months. Ours? 15 minutes. :-)
I don't have direct experience with Bark Box but had similar questions as you do.
What we've had luck with is the Nylabone shapes; there is a yellow triangle and a big s-hook. They last longer. Most other toys cannot be left with the dogs unsupervised.

Looked at the Peanut. Maddie would have hunks off around the hole within a half hour or so, tops. She actively tries to get pieces off of things, is the problem.

I was considering doing Bark Box bc it seemed like a fun idea, but after looking at the contents and lists of what you would potentially get I decided I'd much rather go to the pet store and create my own Bark Box. For $30 a month I'd rather be the one choosing the fun treats and toys Franklin gets. This month was his birthday so his "bark box" from me was a little bigger than the norm but in all honesty one of his new toys this month is still completely intact so he may not need another toy next month :-D I like the idea of it, it seems fun, but I also would rather be the one choosing the toys and treats. If I'm buying plush toys for Franklin I just hit Goodwill and get a few there, wash them, and then give them to Frank. This usually costs me between $1 to $2 so I'm not real concerned when he shreds them within a few minutes, if he decides to let one last several days its pretty exciting.

I was looking more into it. I think I'll do a three month to experience new brands of things. Star Fox loves trying new things, but his choices are pretty limited when it comes to the natural sections at our pet stores. If he finds something he loves this way I'll be able to order more from the manufacturer. :)

Sarah, Amazon also carries a lot of treats, both themselves and through vendors, so that's an option to if you find something you like.
We are fortunate; we have a Pet Supplies Plus which has a good selection of natural treats, and a Pet Smart which is good for a wide selection of toys/brushes etc.

We have Petsmart here as well, but we've had very bad experiences with the one we have. We tend to shop at Petco, but ours is pretty small. They will order products for their store though for you if you request it. I will definitely check out things on Amazon :)

omg the petsmart here had FLEAS inside it last summer, like that you could VISIBLY see. so we're cautious what we get there for the cats, and obviously for machete too. he doesn't go to that store to visit, only other stores. i always get petsmart/petco mixed up, and as far as chains go, not a fan of either too much.
about 95% of the things we bought him came from amazon, though. i have 2 prime accounts and basically getting all the stuff you ever wanted for a corg in 2 days or less is awesome.
not sure if you have an especially for pets near you, but they're pretty snazzy, too.
fyi 0 barkbox supplies a very, very small percentage of the things we buy/use/etc. for our pup, but like i said, it's a fun option.

Star Fox had a urinary tract obstruction at 9 weeks old which is something that primarily only happens in older dogs...if ever. The only vet that was open when we discovered this was Banfield. They were horrible! They never called me back after I called them. They ran tests without my consent and performed procedures without my consent. I told them if anything needed to be done to call me and I would get him to our usual vet, nothing was done. When I showed up after work they said that they couldn't let him be transported and held Foxums overnight. They also scared the crap out of me and said that if I didn't get a surgery done to pretty much turn my Foxums into a girl, that he would most likely die. After we finally got him back the bill was outrageous and it was probably the first time in my life that I ever raised hell somewhere. We took him straight to my vet and they put him on the right food and he has been fine ever since. needless to say, Anything affiliated with them went on the boycott list. Plus the stores were in horrible condition.

banfield will kill your pets, or not give a flip. i have a close friend who's a groomer at petsmart, but based on the corporate policies that they have for their "health care" portion? i would sooner light myself on fire than let anyone at banfield even look at my little corg. or even a pet rock!
also, foxums is adorable as a nickname.
machete's mom was star (starburst) and his AKC name is star light...so star fox is also adorable! :)
