My corgi is 1 year old. She is really over weight. I walk her at least 3 times a day for 30 minutes each and feed her according to directions but she's still gaining. Has anyone else had this problem?

My Soffie is overweight. We have switched to Pro Pac low fat. Without getting technical it has all the good stuff and none of the bad stuff, ie: the bad grains, by products, etc.... And we cut back on incidental treats.

Soffie is getting back to a good weight and Griffyn is maintaining his. From everything I read what Jenny says is true. You shouldn't always go by the charts on the bag. And Corgis are notorious for "coaxing" for more. We fell into that trap with Soffie. She clangs her bowl with her paw... then gives us that big brown eyed look.... you know the one!! So..... the way I got around that, was to decrease the amount I give her in the first serving and then give her a little more as a "bonus" after she finishes. This makes her happy and she's none the wiser.

I feed them both twice a day. At each feeding they get a 1/2 cup. But I have also read that you can actually look at your Corgi from day to day and see that perhaps on any given day they may need a little more or a little less. And always take into consideration how many treats they are getting in a day. And adjust accordingly.
