I posted a discussion earlier about Tylenol for dogs. I am glad that all of you were here to help. I took Kirby to the vet today. He examined Kirby and Kirby didn't seem to move or flintch when the doctor pulled on his leg..however they wanted me to pay $400 dollars in x rays. Times are hard right now as we all know..so I couldnt afford the xrays. I went to our local feed bin to get Kirby some k-9 Aspirin. I was wondering if anyone had any types of advice on what to do to help..such as using a heating pad, or ice pack to help with his leg..I am at a loss. I have no idea how to help my little guy!

I know my neighbor has used ice on his german shepard before when he has injured himself and seemed to help. I would give it a try and see if it helps. If it doesnt seem to be getting better I would talk to the vet. Oh also you will have to keep Kirby on lots of rest. When Lance has issues when he was a puppy he was on strict rest....no walks......no crazy activity...crate rest. No jumping...etc. Our vet prescribed Rimadyl for Lance, did your vet reccommend the K-9 Aspirin. Maybe see if you can find somewhere else that can do the x-rays for cheaper. I dont remember how much we paid but it wasnt 400.00!!! Good Luck Hope you feel better soon Kirby and it isnt anything serious. If you dont want to crate him to rest him I would find a small room you could crate him in to rest, somewhere where he isnt going to run mad and hurt himself some more. Keep me posted on Kirbys progress. Hope this helps.
What exactly happen to Kirby and is he limping right now?
Did the vet offer a payment plan?
Is credit card an option?
http://www.carecredit.com/ offers 18 month no interest if you pay in full.

If the injury is recent, an ice pack will help reduce the swelling, heating pad might not be a good idea just yet.
