I'm curious about some behaviors that other corgi owners experience with their own animals. I'm wondering if my dog is something exceptional, or if it just comes with the breed, that way I can definitely be on my toes when I bring in another fuzzchild to the family!

Please rate your corgi on these categories:

1.) Vocalization: 1-5, with 1 being nearly mute, and 5 being very chatty!
2.) Obedience: 1-5, with 1 being very challenging, and 5 being a star performer
3.) Activity: 1-5, with 1 being very lazy, and 5 being a top-notch gogetter!
4.) Appetite: 1-5, with 1 being a self-conscious healthy eater, and 5 being a serious oinker
5.) Social Skills: 1-5, with 1 being a poor sport, and 5 being well-mannered and plays nice

I will start with my own 3 year old corgi and my first dog, Sofi...

1.) 1- Sofi barely EVER speaks, and when she does it's usually if she's been stepped on.
2.) 5- Sofi was incredibly easy to train! Definitely born to please.
3.) 1- Sofi is very laid back, ashamedly to say I barely have time to ever walk her, but she gets along with her arrangement just fine with no destructive behavior and not a single drip of hyperactivity...
4.) 1- I give Sofi an open bowl of food, I fill a big bowl to the brim and she goes and eats about half a cup of food in the morning and half a cup of food again in the evening of her own free will. She's very slim and is in no way over or underweight, at a solid 26 pounds.
5.) 4- Sofi developed some guarding behavior with her food when my boyfriend's voracious and ill-behaved pug came onto the picture; the pug got into the habit of stealing from Sofi's food bowl and eating all her food, so she will stomp the ground if he gets close and barks if he grabs a kernel from her dish. Otherwise, she plays really well at the dog park and with my mother's dog, a westie.

Didi is 1 year and nearly two months.

1. 2 - She speaks very rarely and is not yappy, but she is not shy about giving us the low wuuuf to tell us that someone is walking infront of the house or is approaching the door.
2. 4 - She always wants to do it but I have issues communicating effectively with her which makers her get frusterated and lays down.
3. 2 - She naps most of the day and has no problem with it, but she's always up for a go-and-fetch-it
4. 2 - She is mildly interesting in eating, but she is VERY interested in snacking.
5. 4 - She likes other dogs but lots of them or a very forward dog makes her hunch over and lock down in an ears back, butt tucked in, shrink to the floor sort of way. This usually resolves itself quickly though.
Haha. What's the difference between eating and snacking exactly?

Theo lays down when he's confused about what I'm asking too. It's his go-to "I'm a good boy" pose. I love it.
food is kibble snacks is nibbly human food or cheese or green beans or liver :)
Grover is totally the same with the snacks. Some days he's take it or leave it with his kibble, but anytime, anywhere and he's up for a snacky!
1.) Vocalization - Probably like a 4 1/2 - She loves to use her voice!
2.) Obedience - 5! She's the sharpest tool in the shed.
3.) Activity - Around a 4.
4.) Appetite - 2 - She's very picky.
5.) Social Skills - 5, she loves to socialize and plays nice with dogs of all sizes!
Great idea for a post! I love reading what everyone else's corgi's are like!

1.) Vocalization: 1-5, with 1 being nearly mute, and 5 being very chatty!
4- Grover isn't really barky, but he can be if he gets really worked up. He just mostly makes "arrrooooo" sounds and whiney sounds and sighs.

2.) Obedience: 1-5, with 1 being very challenging, and 5 being a star performer
3-5- Grover is smart! But he is also STUBBORN. He has actually barked in my face during a down to illustrate his unhappiness with having to be in a down position. He's better when we are in a class.

3.) Activity: 1-5, with 1 being very lazy, and 5 being a top-notch gogetter!
4-but this may be his puppy-ness. He can be a real brat sometimes if he hasn't had a walk. He has a lot of energy, but he's not a total nut either. Come 8:30pm or so he's konked out where ever I am.

4.) Appetite: 1-5, with 1 being a self-conscious healthy eater, and 5 being a serious oinker
4- he would be a pig if we fed him everything he wanted, but he doesn't usually scarf down his kibble anymore. Kibble just isn't that thrilling for him, I suppose.
5.) Social Skills: 1-5, with 1 being a poor sport, and 5 being well-mannered and plays nice
5-No problems with this part, he gets along great with kids, adults, and other dogs. Although he is taking a LONG time to adjust to our new kitten, Mertie. The our other cat he's been around since day one, so he doesn't fuss with him anymore.
Haha. Isn't it funny when they sigh? I love it. :)

When Theo doesn't want to do a down he gives you a very meaningful look and lays down about as slowly as gravity will let him. lol.
Mocha
1.) Vocalization: 3 Mocha is not a whiner, but he does let you know when he's upset.
2.) Obedience: 5 when he is fully exercised, 3 when he did not get his walk of the day, he will disobey and walk by himself.
3.) Activity: 2 Mocha is very independent, he plays when he wants to and when he doesn't feel like it, he conserve his energy.
4.) Appetite: 1 Mocha is a conscience eater, he save and guard his food, does not finish everything in a sitting.
5.) Social Skills: 5 Mocha is well mannered and a social butterfly, as long as it's not ball related, he can play nice, he gets upset when he cannot win everytime.

Vienna
1.) Vocalization: 4 vienna is very quiet, but she is alert and will be the first to react to anything.
2.) Obedience: 5 She is the one that I can count on, as soon as I make a sound, she will stop where she is going, do a 180 and come back to me. She will not leave me beyond eyesight and always keep an eye on me, even during playtime.
3.) Activity: 5 Vienna loves to play and can play nice, she is a runner and can easily go for a mile run with me and still have energy left to go for more.
4.) Appetite: 5 Vienna is an oinker and will inhale food, she have no self control and will eat until she burst. We've worked hard for over 1 year to keep her in tip top shape.
5.) Social Skills: 2 Vienna is too protective over mocha and when other dogs play (non corgi) with mocha, she gets confused and thinks that they might be hurting him, so she plays the cop role and try to herd everyone at a dog park, it is embarrassing :(
Brodey just turned 4.

1) Vocalization is a 4. He grumbles and makes all kinds of noises to talk to you. He barks like crazy when he thinks something is going on. He is mostly grumbley in the morning. We try to get him to use his "inside voice" when he is too loud about something he is trying to tell us. We don't discourage his talking as long as it isn't way too loud and for no apparent reason. I figure it is like a baby crying. He is trying to tell us something. We just have to figure out what it is.

2) Obedience is a 4. He does what he is expected most of the time, but he has a bit of a stubborn streak. For instance, if you get after him to stop barking, he always has to have the last word. He will stop barking, but first he lets out a small "woof" just so he has the last word.

3) Activity is a 1. He is content to sit on the couch or your lap. We can't go on long walks or you might have to carry him home!

4) Appetite is at a 4. Sometimes he will leave food in his bowl, but most of the time, if there is food, he eats it.

5) Social Skills is probably a 3. We need to watch him with other dogs and kids. He usually just tries to avoid them, but if he gets fed up or backed into a corner, I fear he might snap. He does have a girlfriend though. He is in love with a friend's cocker spaniel. They play and cuddle and give each other kisses. Other dogs he as been around, he just avoids like crazy. He likes kids that are calm and will pet him all the time. If they chase him, he runs and hides. With adults, he is super friendly and loves them all.
Brodey sounds like a character!
My corgi mix Bruce absolutely does that "last word" thing! I've never seen a dog do that before I brought Bruce home. It is so funny to keep a conversation going with him. Soft little "woofs" that just scream stubborn!
I think would rate Max:
1 a 3 he is very vocal about food.
2 A 5 very easy so far.
3 a 3 depends
4 another 3
5. A 5 loves people and most dogs will play till he drops when he wants to
