Clicker training?
I wanted to know what everyone thought about Clicker training?
On a side note, I played with Freya last night. I tossed her rope toy with the tennis ball at the end of it. I was on the phone so when I wanted her to come to me, I would actually do the doggie "Play with me" stance and wiggle my butt. She got excited and grabbed the ball and ran to me and amazingly didn't trip. I would then take it from her and motion for her to sit and she did! I didn't say anything. I threw the ball and she would bring it back to me.
I didn't even know she would do this without words! Let alone do it period.

Oh yes, we taught ours "sign" (not american) language, we are able to give commands just by gestures in complete silent :)
We only used the clicker as an "emergency remote control". It never failed us.... yet. There are more sophisticated clicker training out there tho.

It is awesome when you are half asleep and stumbling around. That's what I love about the "sign" language.

I find the screechin works. LOL when I don't want LO to do something I screech, he does look at me like I'm crazy but it does work after a few times.

Clicker Training is great. It's a good way to consistenty let yout dog know he's doing well. Marking the very moment he or she is doing exactly what you want. All of our classes at Petsmart use the clicker, and it's very sucessful. There are lots of books and information out there about clicker training. Just make sure you understand it, and are using it properly.

Clicker training is very easy and highly effective when teaching the come command. When my little hears the clicker, he makes a mad dash to me.

Cool. I'll probably talk to the trainer more and supplement accordingly. She also works with hand signals but since I already got one for "sit" that one has to be modified. It's just everything else that must be done.
