So about a month ago Dax has starting having accidents when he gets excited/scared. The strangest thing about it -- I don't mean he pees. You got it, he poops! I don't get it. I've heard of dogs peeing when they're excited, but he's never done that. Aside from this he's fully housebroken, and he NEVER pees inside (unless he's at someone else's house, but that's an entirely different post). He's almost 11 months old, so I'm pretty sure he's got control over it. I feed him Wellness Just for Puppy, I'm planning on switching him to adult dog food when I'm done with this bag (would that have anything to do with it?) I've pretty much got him on a poop schedule, he goes once in the morning and once in the afternoon. He ONLY does this when we're playing with him inside and he gets really excited and starts running and jumping around, he'll just stop in mid-run and out it comes. Another problem, I don't know if its related or not, but when we take him for walks, he almost ALWAYS stops to poop in the middle of the road. Sometimes twice! If we don't get him excited, he's fine, no accidents, nothing, he's great! I've caught him doing it and done everything I can to teach him not to, including "going back to square one" like I know everyone will tell me to do, but nothing is helping. The thing is I feel like he knows he's not supposed to be doing it, it's almost like he can't help it. Sorry for the long post, but ANY help would be appreciated.

Ok I am very sorry to be like this but I am LMAO at a cute little corgi in the middle frapping crunching up for number 2's.
Lo pees when excited, I wonder if it's something they will grow out of.
Lol. It is funny to see, but I wish he wouldn't! That just means I have to clean it up! Of course I guess if he peed, it would be a little harder to clean up, so I have that going for me.
Our dog also poops on walks, even if he pooped just prior to the walk. We asked our vet about it, because the poop on the walk was usually super runny, and she just said he was excited to be out on the walk and it was bound to happen. She told us not to make a big deal of it and he might grow out of it.

That was a couple of months ago. Ein doesn't do it nearly as much anymore when on the walk. So, maybe he will grow out of it, Ein is about 10 months. He hasn't pooped inside, even when really excited, so it's not exaclty the same, and I know if he was doing it inside I wouldn't really have the patience for it.

I have read somewhere that if you dog pees when excited, you shouldn't punish the dog because they can't control it and you should just avoid getting them excited (yeah right, I thought, like that will happen) Not much help, but I thought I'd share what I know.
My Harry does the same thing! I thought he was the only one! last night we brought him upstairs with us for a bit since i was endlessely putting away laundry and usually he is not allowed upstaris since that is where our cats hide from him...he was running around all excited and then it happened....he never (hardly ever) has accidents anymore and i knew he didn't need to go out since he had been not so long ago...I was shocked....and then he does the worst thing of all......he eats it before I can get to him :( another habit which I thought had died away..my poor harries
The schedule you speak of is it yours or His...He may be holding it in till the appointed time and when he is excited he can't wait any longer. Just a thought. As for the road thing every breed I have owned has likes the road. Maybe because it smooth ( nothing to touch their butt) I don't know. I say talk to the vet and get their side of the problem.
It's really his, I bring him out plenty times during the day, but he only goes twice a day. Maybe I'm feeding him too much..
I would not consider this to be "truly" unusual. At his age he is thinking much more about having fun that concentrating on his business. I would recommend that perhaps you choose to play on his outings and try to get him to eliminate before his walk and before playing in the house. Young dogs just sometimes lose perspective of the "rules" when there is fun to be had. I would also consider the amount he eats and the consistency of his stools. If they are soft or runny it may be his chosen food is a tad rich for him. Changing to adult food may be a big help. You may also find that certain foods just dont agree with him as well. Good luck. Please know this is not purposeful so do not punish him. Just quickly say "outside" when he "strikes the pose" and let it happen outside.
His stools are fine, and I usually try to get him to go before walks, and even if he does he'll still stop in the middle of the walk and go again. I certainly don't punish him because I know he only does it when he's excited, and NEVER any other time, so I know he knows better. I just didn't know if there was anything I could do to help him gain more control over it. Once he's in the act though, there's no stopping him. I can either drag him out in position and leave a trail, or just let him finish (which I know isn't the answer). No amount of noise distraction will stop him. I've even tried picking him up and...let's just say I had even more of a mess to clean up then.
