Brooklyn was diagnosed with Cancer last week. He is 12 years old and my baby boy. He has a rare one called Leiomyosarcoma. He went in for emergency surgery two weekends ago because the vet found a large mass on his spleen. They removed the mass and his spleen. She sent it off for the biopsy and well we got the bad news. She got a hold of the oncologist because it is rare to find out what we could do. There is a slight possibility that when she removed the mass and spleen she got it all but there is also that possibility that there was a cell left behind. We will not know until something happens. The vets are giving him only 1 to 3 months to live if the cancer is there and we do not do chemo, or 6/12 months with the chemo. We have decided not to do the chemo and prolong what may happen anyways, but to keep him comfortable as possible until we notice he is starting to suffer. This is so hard on us. We just put our 15 year old Corgi down November 1st. Brooklyn is doing well right now. Playing and eating just fine. My husband and I are in two different states right now and he has Brooklyn. I had to move back to Texas and he wanted to keep Brookie for company until we are joined together again in May. It is so hard for me to know that I may not get to say good bye to my bud. It is hard for my husband to look at Brooklyn every day and wonder if and when it is going to happen. Does anyone know of any Corgi cancer support groups? Please pray for all of us. That Brooklyn does not have any cancer in him and that all of us have the strength to do what is right for Brooklyn. Please do not pass judgment on us for not doing Chemo. We really feel that it is best for him to be able to live his life out with out the pain and suffering of chemo.

aww i m so sorry to hear about the news. still, your pup looks like a well-loved little guy and im sure that he has lived a wonderful life with you. <3 you're in my thoughts!
You guys are in my thoughts. I don't think I could put my baby through chemo in that situation either, why do that if their quality seems better without it? I hope things are under control at this point however. Be well Brooklyn!
I really sorry to hear about Brooklyn. I lost my last dog to cancer and I know just how you feel. My thoughts are with you.
Luke
I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you. If there is anything we can do just let us know.
So sorry to hear about Brooklyn. I don't blame you for not doing chemo, the quality of life is more important. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, your husband and Brooklyn. Hopefully, they were able to get it all out, and you will have several more years with Brooklyn.

My chorgi (chow/corgi) had a lumped removed from her chest in August, that was cancerous. They said they same thing, they think they got it all, but to look for lumps that appear suddenly. They said she could develop lumps in her lungs that we would never know about until it was too late.
very sorry to hear of this news. mine and wyatts prayers are with you and Brooklyn.
Just wanted to add to everyone elses thoughts and well wishes, hope all goes well and you have much longer with him than you think. Please stay in touch and let me know how your baby is doing x
Darleen - I'm sorry to hear your news, and want to share you a story that might make you feel better:

In July of 2008, I came home one day to find my 8 year old Ruby very lethargic and limping. She steadily went downhill overnight, and I rushed her to the vet hospital the next morning. After 3 days in the hospital, and an ultrasound, I was told the devastating news that she had terminal cancer, with tumors on her spleen, liver and kidneys. I did not get a biopsy, because she was bleeding internally, and they made it sound like it was a matter of days. They said she was not a candidate for Chemo because it wouldn't work and would only cause pain.

I took Ruby home, sad and confused. She stabilized within a few days. A friend of mine recommended a holistic vet in North Carolina, Dr. Charles Loops. I did the consultation with him, and received Ruby's first batch of holistic remedies within a few days, and also changed her food immediately to a high protein, low carb food.

Ruby hung in there, to the amazement of me, my dog walker and vet, in spring of last year, the vet was so amazed Ruby was still around, and I did another ultrasound. Basically the radiologist couldn't believe it was the same dog. I spoke with Dr. Loops again after this news, and he basically recommended that i continue the treatment.

I am happy to tell you that Ruby is still with me! It's been about 18 months. Either the vets were totally wrong, or the remedies work! I think it's a bit of both actually. since I never had a biopsy, I can't be sure, but I can tell you that I have ruby's blood checked frequently, and it's always good, and my local vet is amazed!

The remedies are not that hard to work with, and definitely have improved Ruby's quality of life. This might be something you want to consider. I wish you the best of luck!
Darlene,

Oh noes! I am praying for you and Brooklyn. Please keep us updated.
Darleen,
I will keep your family and Brooklyn in my thoughts and prayers ...
I'll pray for you. Both of my grandmother's died from cancer and my mother almost did as well. It effects everyone and everything in one way or another. Just remember it's not your baby's cancer, it's evil's whatever it is and it cant win. Your corgi will be healed either way it goes, cause love and good always win, no matter what.
