Hi everyone. So lately I've noticed some issues with Stanley and I'm wondering if it could be allergies. He's been doing this weird snorting noise and from the research I've done, it sounds like the reverse sneeze. It's awful to witness b/c it seems like his hyperventilating or something. But luckily he stops after a few seconds. It seems to happen at different times though, nothing really consistent to see what triggers it. The other thing I noticed is when we'd take him to puppy class, his eyes seemed a little red and he would sneeze regularly. The classroom had a lot of dog hair and dust bunnies in the corners. The other symptom is the scratching. He seems to scratch a lot lately. We did find a couple of fleas on him last week. I treated him with Advantage and have run a flea comb over him. He appears to be flea free now but still scratches. Does this sound like allergies? Should I take him to the vet? Other than those items, he seems very healthy so I'm not sure what to do....

Hi Jenny!
Reverse sneezing DOES sound scary, doesn't it? Bruce does it often but it does not seem to bother him much. It sounds like Stanley might be sneezing in response to the hair and dust. As for the itching, if he has bites from the now-gone fleas, the bites might still be bothering him until they heal. You could see how he does over the next few days, and if he is still itching, take him to see if he indeed does have allergies.
