Hi, I have a female corgi named Rosie. We have had an ongoing issue of poo getting stuck to her back sides, it's usually just a little bit but enough that it needs to be wiped sometimes. We call her little flaps of fur that cover her bum "privacy tufts" because they cover her just a bit. We have taken her in for a "sanitation shave" once but didn't really seem to solve the problem. Any advice?
One more thing, wondering if anyone has ever noticed their corgi's back legs shaking after a long run or exercise. She never seems to be in pain to touch, they just shake a lot and then stop after she is a little rested. Normal or not?

I was told by my vet to wipe Sophie's bum with baby wipes after she has a poo. The reason for this is that it's very easy for bacteria from the trapped in fur poo bits to travel to the doggie's other private part and produce a urinary tract infection, which has happened to Sophie twice. She has been shaved back there, but as you said, it doesn't help all that much...poo still gets caught, wiping needs to be done. I guess there's no other way around this problem with those furry little bums.
Oh, my Bertie gets a little "poopy butt" too. So, I just keep baby wipes in the car and at home, handy at all times. I do clip the fur, too, just a tad, to make it easier on both of us. Also, I've made food adjustments aiming for a firmer stool, which helps. Who knew that getting a dog would lead to obsession with their poop?? ;-)
Forgot to add, haven't seen my guys legs shake, that doesn't sound right to me, but I only have my 2 to go by.
Baby wipes.
I have not noticed legs shaking in my dogs. Best ask your vet at the next checkup.

As for poopy buns, my advice is to consider the food you are feeding. Sidney is on Wellness Super 5 and has never had this problem. What little poo there is is really firm.
97% sure that the phrase poopy buns just made me laugh out loud so hard.
I have been for 3 months feeding Rosie Solid Gold dog food. It's kind of middle of the road as far as cost goes? Does anyone have anything to say about this type of food?
The sanitary cut, baby wipes work great. Another suggestion is to have the pants trimmed when getting the sani-cut. Not a lot. Just enough to take the wispy hairs. It does help with dingleberries.
Perhaps some ground flax seed in the food will make poo a little more formed and not stick so much? Occasionally, when I remember we give camber a touch of flax seed meal to her food.
Flax is good for people too ;-)
yes, poopy buns got my attention. we are on the food merry go round right now too. trying to find one that gives Stella firm poop. we've already had to have her anal glands expressed once since we got her and hope we can find a fix.

on a side note, I was having a conversation with someone who knows a corgi and she mentioned that the dog gets a bikini cut at the groomer. ha!
Nature's Recipe brand dog food has solidified Eddy's poo! I love it.
