I just brought home a new corgi puppy & I’m wondering how to effectively feed him & my other dog. I have a 1 yr old mini dachshund, Piper, who I have always free fed. She is very good about only eating when she is hungry. Now that we’ve brought Dale home, he is eating like a vacuum, leaving not very much for Piper. She’s not aggressive enough to get in there and eat. I’m worried about feeding them at specific times since Piper is so used to having food available when she’s hungry. Any advice?

Your best bet is to feed them separately, either in different parts of the house or in the crate. Pick up the dish after meal time, do not free feed. Unfortunately, Corgis are prone to obesity :(
Seconded what Sam said, no more free feeding, your corgi will eat until it explodes. Just let your old pup get used to eating at certain times, hunger will be a great motivator, and don't worry about your dachsund maybe not eating enough for a day or two, she'll be just fine.

We feed our dogs in two seperate bowls, and after some training Atlas has learned that it is not okay to try and eat food from Scout's bowl when she is eating. He still watches her longingly after he has scarfed down his bowl, but would not try to steal anything from her.
How much cup-wise do you think I should be feeding him? He's 9 weeks old & how many times per day?
