Hi Natalie, a relaxed puppy may fit your lifestyle. I recommend you crate train your puppy and slowly enlarge the area until the bladder get fully develop. Both my wife and I work full time plus more, so we know what you mean. Having a pup definitely changes your lifestyle, because if you're planning a trip and the destination doesn't allow dogs, you'll need someone else to take care of them.

I highly recommend you to enroll your pup to a class at petsmart, it is a great way to socialize your pup with other dogs and bond with your new addition. Corgis are extremely smart dogs, if you consistently train them for 30-45 mins a day, they'll learn a new trick in just a matter of days.

Thanks for the reply. I have enjoyed this website so much! All my kids and grandkids were over yesterday for Dinner and gifts and I showed them this site. My sons said, "Mom, you definitely should get this dog!". I do plan to make her a constant companion wherever I can, and I have trained other animals (dolphins, horses, dogs) so I feel sure I can handle that. I just don't want a neurotic dog who is deprived of stimulation during the day.

Key West at Christmas is a great vacation. Have lots of fun, and key lime pie!

Hi Natalie,
I have 2 plus cats to keep them occupied during the day. They like to sit on the landing where they can look out the window, and see whats going on. My 2 are inseperable. It would be a lot to train 2 puppies at the same time, but the companionship would eventually pay off.

Something to consider is what is the current routine in this pups life now? Though it would be great to be home with pups that just isnt the real world. We do have to work which takes us away for a good part of the day. I think if you are comitted to a regime of several walks daily, some time with frisbee or ball, some training classes you should do just fine. Corgis enjoy mental and well as physical challenges. You can rest assured if it is not provided they will find an outlet on their own.....which may not be pleasing to you. Exposure to other dogs, people, places and many different environments will help you raise a well rounded corgi. As for training classes I always recommend going and watching a session or two before joining. Some places are far better than others when it comes to training your dog. Good luck!

Thanks, Sam. I do plan to follow those good suggestions! As one trainer said, "If you don't give your dog a job, he will become self-employed!". I will definitely check out several classes before joining. Went out today and bought crate, leash, collar, toys and treats, bowls. Going to drive 2 hours tomorrow to decide on 5 month old brother or sister Pembrokes. Will keep all posted. Everyone has been great in their suggestions.

Did see where someone recommended two pups......Well I have to say typically that doesnt pan out well. While I am all for owning more than one dog getting two at the same time often offers far more issues than having one. We always recommend that it is good to have one for a period of time, have them trained to be a good house member and in the routine then consider another. Bet of luck with your new pal!

You are so right. Having twin granddaughters, I know it is twice the work. I like the idea of getting one trained before adding a new one. The wisdom from all of the members of this website is so helpful.
