So we have worked through Owen's challenging nature for the most part with walks, good running and play times, and patience (including training). We just discovered that paired with giving him a job during our meal times (watch the line) rewarded with treats and the occasional penny jar shake for the bossy barking - we can have a meal without a hungry corgi nipping at our feet. And at the end of the day we all love each other. We are making it through the "teen years" with our 10 month old little boy (neutered).

Owen has no real issue with guests or people hugging in general or us hugging friends. But my husband and I hugging brings on a real barkfest. I want to laugh but I know he hates that more. He just shouldn't get such an indigant look on his face. I read around but he isn't consistantly jealous or weird with people. If he is jealous, we can't figure out who he is possessive of because he really doesn't favor one over the other. This may be TMI but he is okay if we are close in bed and he is with us.

Is he jealous or weird? Is he an attention hog or does he really just not want a little brother or sister? I guess he doesn't realize that we have enough on our hands with him right now!

Any suggestions? I would just like to be able to hug Matt!

Ein does the same thing but he does it with all people lol. I think he feels that the hugging is a sign of people playing as he comes up and stands with us and maybe barks a bit, seemingly wanting to get in on the action. We usually just picked him up and squashed him in between lol.
I am on this site today seeking an answer for a similar problem... Toki has been with us for 2 months now. He's 4yo, so he's no puppy. He really never barks, except when we are playing with our 2yo son. We have two older kids, and he doesn't mind us wrestling with them. We can't figure out if he's jealous of the baby, or just protective of him. He doesn't act out toward the baby. He just won't back off of us when we are tickling or "rough-housing" with the baby.

Any ideas, anyone?? We'd love to be able to play without being "yelled" at by the dog.
corgis are extremely driven by sound and excitement, in my house, there is a "No yelling" rule, as soon as my wife saids "Dinner's ready", our corgis will react to the db. One time I was helping a friend to install speaker wires through the attic and we had to yell at each other because of the sound proofing, my corgis let me know it was "inappropriate" :)
Could you describe a little bit more in detail? like is it immediate - no bark half way until the full embrace? my question is why did he get vocal under that situation? do all hugs trigger the bark? Is there a time limit? What do you do when that happens?
