I did a search on the site, and I see a lot of discussions about prevention, but not really on treatment and outcome, so I am starting a new one (hope that's okay). My Bertie Wooster tested positive for anaplasmosis yesterday, and so is taking doxycycline for a month. He has tested postive for Lyme in the past (two years ago) and took doxy then as well (so I also have to put sunblock on his pink spot on his nose too, so he doesn't get an infection there from the sun-sensitivity caused by the antibiotic -- last time he got a staph infection on his nose). I put Advantix on both the dogs every 3-4 weeks, I check for ticks in the AM and at night, I have even given them this naturopathic garlic stuff (don't ask). They have blood drawn every 6 months to check for lyme, etc., because everyone I know around here (NW CT) has had Lyme at least once, and no one ever actually saw the tick that gave it to them. I don't really have a question, I just wanted to express my extreme hatred of TICKS and my concern about the long-term effects of Bertie having exposure to tick borne diseases. Anyone else dealing with constant tick problems and the epidemic of tick-borned diseases? Thanks for listening. I just want my babies to have long, happy, health, TICK-FREE lives....
