Lola & I will be heading to the vet in the next hour or so. My husband noticed on Saturday that after she urinated, she had a couple drops of blood in her 'girlie' area. He saw this a couple times that same day & noticed that she would try to urinate rather frequently. We've noticed that when we take her on walks, she'll pee 3-4 times (in a 40 minute period). We always thought she did it just because she was out & about. Now I'm worried she's had an infection for a while :( Has anyone else dealt with this? And could it possibly be from allergies (she has them really bad...)?

Could she be going into heat?
Nope, she's fixed... I also had looked around the area to make sure she wasn't cut, but I didn't see anything down there....
Very strange ... we'll say a little prayer for her, keep us updated!
Yeah, that's what I'm hoping it is & she can just get meds... we had called a mobile vet our friends use & she said it's most likely that, but she'd have to examine her to make sure it's nothing more (which it could be...). Our appt is in an hour & we should know what's up. We've just lost too many of our close doggies friends in the last year, I want to make sure I get her checked out ASAP!!!
Sounds like a UTI. My little guy went through this a few months ago. It is rather trying for you having to let them out to potty every 10 minutes, but the vet will give her meds and she'll be feeling better in a few days. Good luck and keep us updated on how she's doing!
I took Lola to the vet & they got a urine sample from her. It had some blood in it, but they have to send it to the lab to get tested. They gave her some meds and said that if it is an infection, they will give us 3 weeks worth. If it's not an infection, they will need to do xrays to see why she's bleeding... so think 'infection' for us! hehe
I hope it's just an infection. I was just reading a study that spayed females have a high incidence of having UTI's along w/other things. Interesting study which I'm not wanting to post in fear many will have an excuse not to spay or neuter which would be bad. I've heard about these mobile vet units. Are they very expensive?
We actually went to our regular vet instead of the mobile vet... but my friends love the mobile vet. Her prices are comparable to a normal vet & she is availible on weekends. I would say that would be ideal for someone who breeds pups :)
I just got the call from the vet that no infection was found. So I took her in for an xray & no stones were found either... The doctor didn't seem to think an ultrasound was needed, so she just prescribed her more meds & a pain killer, hoping that would help. I think we're going to get a 2nd opinion just to be safe... I've known of 3 dogs in the last year that have had odd illnesses & then passed away within a months time. I know I might be overreacting, but I would rather be safe than sorry. She seems to be fine though... she's not in any pain, but just has to pee a lot... poor thing :(
Thanks for the update, wishing Lola a speedy recovery!
Thanks Sam :) She's such a trooper... she just enjoyed getting out of the house & getting all the attention while at the vet!!
Hi!
I was wondering how this turned out for Lola. It sounds like the same thing I am going thru and any words of advice or information would be appreciated. Hope Lola is good as new!!
