Do puppies normally eat like they are going to die? I don't think Puck even chews his food any more and when I got him he was eating puppy food that were smaller pieces and he chewed those and was eating slow. Now he just woofs every down. Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong or not feeding him enough. He's sure plump enough and I'm feeding him more food than what the breeder was feeding him. I feed him about 1/3 cup of food three times a day. Maybe my other puppies ate that fast as well and I just don't rememeber. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Lance has always eaten fast as a pup! He still eats very fast!!!
Pretty sure mine doesn't chew unless he gets too much food in his mouth.... =/ Then about an hour he routinely checks his bowl for more food... just in case.
Most corgis do. My Trunks is like a vacuum. Just likes to eat fast.

You can put a small bowl upside down in the dish and pour the food around it. It may help him eat slower. Also there are bowls on the market to help with it. The one we got does not help that much, but maybe one with more than one lump would work better.
Don't worry, you're feeding him enough if he's a very young puppy. I stopped Ofelia's frantic eating by making her wait for a command before she could dig in. Also, she's never in a disturbing environment when she eats. After a while of making her wait by the bowl until I said "okay," she started to eat slower. Also, I started from when I got her to stick my hand in her bowl so that she would get used to this, and even take a little and put it back. This way she doesn't snap at, say, children who approach her when she's eating.
I've tried to start doing the command thing but he def doesn't have the attention span but I'm working on it. I also have been putting my hand in the bowl and he hasn't started showing aggression which makes me happy because I had a golden retriever once who had really bad agression. He's a smart little guy through. I keep his food in a drawer in the kitchen and it's his height. So when he's done eating he runs to the drawer, puts his paws on it and looks back like "Okay I'm ready for more momma" I know I won't be able to keep the food where he can reach when he gets bigger!
It was really funny. The other day I put the food in Puck's bowl then turned my back for what seemed like a second and I looked back and it was gone! I couldn't believe it!
Corgies are professionals. They know what they are doing. This is the most important thing they do. They put everything into their job.
Do be careful what you feed your dog, esp. if it inhales its food. We lost one that way.
Mine always ate really fast. When she's eating, you only hear a few crunches, not many. I also know she doesn't chew because when she gets sick & throws up, all the square shape of dog food is still square (slightly larger since they absorbed water, but still square-ish)! :0 I know. It's amazing. But don't worry. Most Corgis LOVE food.
My pup's 10 weeks old and he scarfs his meals, too. We feed him 1/3 cup X3 too. Instead of throwing the bowl down, I just give him a few pieces at a time, and also try to make him drink H20 in between the 10 piece rounds. I don't think he'll ever make the decision to eat slower on his own.
before we got our Corgi Jerry, I read in the internet, "Corgis like to eat" - I thought, Ok, every dog like to eat our food, that is not special, but when Jerry arrived, I understood..... He doesn´t like to eat, he loves to eat, as fast and as much as possible - "Corgis like to eat".....
