Sadie could be chewing on her bone, running around, or anything but when the Spongbob SquarePants theme song comes on her little head turns toward the TV and sits down. She seems to be more interested in the theme song then the actual show, but she always watches it!! I don't know if it is the song, pictures, or what but she seems to love SpongBob. She also does not like Animal Cops because of the dogs on the show barking, she leaves the other room!!

Any of your corgi's like a particular TV show or anything?!

OMG -- Bertie goes nuts at that picture with the lips that sings the SpongeBob song! He barks and jumps around like the world is coming to an end. He likes the commercial where the puppies are at camp -- he can be out cold at the other end of the house, but if that "There ain't no bugs on me" song comes on, he RACES to the TV and dances around. He also likes shows with horses. He does not care for cat food commercials and tries to reach them through the TV -- I often just change the channel if a cat food commercial comes on. But he knows the theme songs to commercials, which kills me. There are dog food commercials with music and as soon as he hears the tune, he perks up and watches, and waits, making rumbling noises -- then when the dog shows up at the end and is EATING, he woofs tragically that he's not able to join in. Funny thing is, Ethel doesn't pay any attention to TV at all. If Bertie jumps and barks, she does too -- but if he's not there, she couldn't care less.

I don't know if he would watch Animal Cops, I find it too hard to watch myself, so never turn it on....
that is the funniest thing. I know what camp puppies commercial you're talking about, but I don't think I have seen it while Sadie is in the room, I will have to see what she does when that come on.

I didn't think anyone other dogs would have the same fasination with SpongeBob as Sadie does. She is 12 almost 13 weeks old. How old is Bertie?
Bertie is 5 next month, but he's been a TV addict since I got him. He was so easy going, and settled right in when I brought him home. But at his breeder's house, she had had a small daycare, and the kids were allowed to visit/play with the puppies as the puppies got bigger, she like to socialize both the kids and the pups. So when I brought B home, as I say, he just settled in -- until the TV was on with a show that had some kids in a playground, yelling and shouting like kids do when playing. He literally sat in front of the TV and cried, it broke my heart! He only did that once -- but I had never had or known of a dog who really "watched" TV before! And his musical abilities -- I'll have to post a video of him singing along with the Lassie theme song. But Ethel is only 16 months, and has never shown any interest in TV at all. Funny.
oh wow. the only thing i can think of is that her breeder had a little girl and she must have watched TV or something, but Sadie was mainly an outside dog before now. So I don't know where her love for TV came from. I hope you do post a video of Bertie singing, I haven't heard Sadie sing but she is only almost 13 weeks, so there is time!!
I can't watch Animal Cops either. I find it upsetting. I would love to be an animal control officer, but it would have to be somewhere they don't carry guns or I would end up shooting people who abuse their animals!
Yes. Tod (our very first Corgi and the 1st dog to pay attention to TV) loves America' Funniest Animals show.
Oh yeah, Elvis does watch the TV now and then. Any time dogs are on, he watches. There was a Nature show on the Yellowstone wolves, and he watched most of that. When he's really into it, he'll walk right up the screen and sit down. The funniest moment, though, was when "Jesus of Nazareth" was playing before Easter, and in one scene, Jesus' face takes up most of the shot. Elvis saw that big old face and barked at it a few times. Elvis isn't letting anyone in, not even the Messiah!
Well, Elvis did think he was the king;)
Don't let your dog watchTV. All that sex & violence & rampant materialism rots their minds, fills them with Amerikan Junk Kultur, and turns thems into good little consumers. They're defenseless against the advertising, and soon they'll be wanting all that fancy dog food and expensive toys. Like, if my dogs saw one soccer game on TV, they'd realize that their ball is a ratty old piece of junk, and they'd be lobbying for a fancy new one.
Restrict your dogs to prudently chosen DVDs, movies that will expand their awareness. And be extremely careful about surfing the internet; there is so much stuff out there that is not dog-friendly.
Taz and Levi liked Marley and Me when we rented it, they both stayed in the living room thorugh most of the movie and everytime the dog barked they did too.
I had never noticed Shayleigh watching tv before but after reading this yesterday I was watching Lord of the Rings. Through most of the movie she wasn't interested at all, but she seemed to be very interested in Golem. Whenever he was on the screen she just stared at him!
little bear does this exact same thing to family guy. it doesn't matter what else is going on (even if he is eating, which is weird), he will watch the whole theme song and then when its over he goes back to doing whatever he was up to. its the funniest thing i've ever seen! its so endearing! he won't watch the whole show, just the theme song. that's so funny someone else's corgi does this. i'll have to record a video and post it.
