My Corgi, Callie, has had issues with throwing up and runny stools... last night was a combination. She turned 1 year old yesterday and I gave her a couple of treats, but nothing out of the ordinary (we were going to make her a doggy safe cake this weekend, but now I'm not too sure) She had a problem a month or so ago with runny stool and the vet said it was either a virus or sensitive digestive system. She had another problem with throwing up before that and the vet said the same thing. We put her on prescription dog food for a little while and she cleared up. Right now she is in the process of switching from Science Diet puppy food to Science Diet Rice and Lamb meal (adult).

Does anyone have any suggestions of other good dog food for sensitive tummies? I am going to put her on a chicken and rice diet for awhile to calm down her tummy (which is the prescription food)
I may wait awhile to see if just the Lamb and Rice meal will be fine for her, but I want some opinions.

(While I'm writing this she is fast asleep next to me, tummy gurgling loudly)

:( Poor Callie. Sorry to hear she isn't feeling well. Tucker had problems with loose stool, and full on explosive diarrhea for a while. He also threw up a couple of times but it was mainly poop issues. What finally helped was a probiotic paste/probiotic pills from the vet. Once we were through with that i started adding a spoonful of organic plain yogurt to his food each day. I guess he needed to increase the good bacteria in his stomach to help fight off the bad bacteria. No problems since! Hopefully something as simple as that will help Callie as well.

Also, I am sure you will get food feedback from others on here but maybe a higher quality food will be better for her? I think Science Diet has corn and other ingredients that are hard for dogs to digest. I feed Tucker Wellness and that seems to agree with him.

Good luck - hope she is feeling better soom!
The chicken and rice did it for us. We also put in canned pumpkin too. Worked wonders.
Not to second guess your vet -- but have you had a stool sample checked from this recent bout of GI distress? I'm sure it is just sensitivity (maybe a no grain food?), but having run into issues with tummy parasites, I always recommend making sure you rule that out first. I thought for a month or so my puppy (at around age 1) was having issues with new adult food -- but then it turned out he had Giardia, and 2 weeks of medicine cleared it all up. Just a thought.
I had her stool checked last time and there was no signs of parasites, but this recent one just happened this morning and I just got home from class. She needs to get into the vet soon anyway I just need to get in (which is the hard part with it being finals time at school)
oh dear, good luck on your exams! I'm a worrywort! I just like to know (I think I've helped my vet pay for an addition on his house....). I'm sure Callie is fine. It's funny, my older dog has a very sensitive stomach, has gotten viruses and parasites, and threw up a lot as a puppy. My younger dog has a stomach of steel, and eats EVERYTHING with no apparent issues (I mean mud, sticks, dead stuff in the woods, my shoes), and has never had a virus, parasite, or upset stomach. Go figure.
